A California Mom Is Recreating Iconic Album Covers Using Her Children And They Are Incredible

Creating a family is one of life’s most beautiful aspects of being human. Part of raising children is passing down important family traditions and also instilling critical aspects of life that perhaps we didn’t get ourselves as kids. We create little versions of ourselves by sharing with them our taste in fashion, giving them our favorite foods, taking them to special places we loved as kids, and also inspiring them our favorite musical artists. That is what makes this story so undeniably special.

Marie Corona’s Instagram is filled with images of her family like most people have. However, what makes her Instagram a little different from the typical mom is that she’s using creative ways to pose as inspirational and influential artists. From the looks of her account, Marie initially just dressed up her daughter Juleanna “Jules” Navarro for fun, but then it all changed when she got a shoutout from one of her favorite music stars.

In 2015, she dressed Jules up as Erykah Badu wearing a headwrap just like her. Badu retweeted the image and a star was born. “It was the most exciting thing to me at the time because I had just seen her live the month prior and, well, the legendary Miss Badu called my daughter cute,” Marie said in an interview with The Houston Chronicle. That image inspired Marie to take her creative skills to another level.

For the past couple of years, Marie has been recreating album covers featuring her daughter. Here’s one of Kanye’s 2010 My “Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Marie told the publication that she didn’t know how to use Photoshop so she improvised and created entirely new sets.

“I got some old cardboard we had at home and painted it red, then taped a painted poster board over that to look like the album cover. I printed out the ‘Parental Advisory’ sign to make it a little more legit,” Marie told The Houston Chronicle. “For the final touch, I got one of my wine glasses and filled that with apple juice and a little food coloring to make it look like wine.”

We must say her DIY mind definitely makes the image stand out a lot more had she just used Photoshop and taken a short cut.

Utter perfection! One of Marie’s followers wrote on Instagram, “Jajajaja omg I didn’t reconocer her I swear you out do yourself every time I love it.”

Of course, she had to do Beyonce.

To incredible females side-by-side. We adore how much Jules is a total sport about the whole thing. But it does leave us wondering if she’s a perfect angel during these photoshoots because we’d love to see some outtakes for sure.

The picture that is getting the most buzz is Marie’s recreation of Selena’s “Amor Prohibido.”

Marie said that the picture earned a “Like” by Selena’s sister, Suzette!

We love that Jules gets the sentiment down so perfectly. She’s a natural in front of the camera and clearly takes direction well from her mom.

“I decided to add another powerful voice with the Amy Winehouse cover. Jules was all for it, as long as ice cream was involved afterwards,” Marie told the publication. Oh, so she bribes her with ice cream. That is our kind of kid.

Now that Marie has her second child, a little boy named Andre, she is getting him into the swing of things just like his big sister.

Not only does it look like Marie has mastered Photoshop, but we can’t wait to see more of little Andre. Marie added that her motivation is not just to get “Likes” on social media, but for her kids to see how much she loves them.

“I hope they look back at these pictures when they’re older and appreciate not only the craziness, but also my love for them, music and Halloween,” she told The Houston Chronicle.
