This Woman Lost It When She Witnessed Her Uber Driver Read His Acceptance To Harvard And It’s The Purest Explosion Of Emotion I’ve Seen

Unfortunately, we see a lot of terrible stories associated with Uber and other ride-share apps but this definitely isn’t one of them. No, this story of persistence, hard work and the power of being genuinely happy for other people’s success is making the rounds and we can’t stop watching it.

On, July 14th, 2019, Twitter user @718rubyy went viral when she tweeted a short video of her recent Uber ride.

In the tweet, she explains that her Uber driver shared with her that she might just be his lucky charm. What might have read as a pickup line, is actually some really awesome news. The tweet explains that — after two years of trying — the unnamed Uber driver has finally been accepted into Harvard University!

“My God, guys! My Uber driver got into Harvard,” she can be heard cheering. “Black Excellence!”

As if that good news wasn’t enough, the response of his passenger made the announcement even better. The Dominicana Uber patron can be heard on the video celebrating and hyping up her driver.

Her Uber driver took the congratulations with a balance of pride and shyness — ducking away from the camera while recording.

Twitter was quick to join in on the congratulations for this Harvard-bound young man.

This Twitter user had some words of encouragement and advice for the new Harvard student. When you’ve got good momentum, don’t slow down. We’re sure he’ll keep working towards his unquestionably bright future.

Others users pointed out that his passenger’s excitement on video is positively infectious.

This Dominicana must know that when one of us win, we all win. So, naturally, it makes sense to celebrate this young man’s accomplishments with the energy that we see on the video.

Some Twitter users suggested the Harvard student should continue to explore his luck.

Luck isn’t everything. We’re sure getting into Harvard took a lot of hard work as well. STILL, this new student should take full advantage of this good luck streak and hope for more positivity coming his way.

Like any good story, followers have been looking for the romance in this tale.

Twitter / @r8gue

In fact, some were projecting their own romantic hopes for the pair. No word if there’s a love connection resulting from this Uber meet-cute, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, we ship it.

However, some Twitter users saw it more as an ingenious pick-up line instead of true love.

Twitter / @cubanlxs

We can see how it would seem that way but the news looks pretty genuine. Either way, we respect his game if it’s truly a line.

No matter what you feel about a possible romance between the two, one thing was agreed upon by all.

Uber story or not, this is the kind of content we like to see on the TL. Good luck at Harvard next year, mystery Uber driver!

Cardi B Blows Up Instagram As She Shares Her Opinion On Best Lighting Options For Sex

Cardi B Blows Up Instagram As She Shares Her Opinion On Best Lighting Options For Sex

Iamcardib / Instagram

Would you even be surprised to hear that Cardi B is at it again – this time talking about the best lighting to have during sex? Probably not. In classic Cardi B style, she took to Instagram to set the record straight, and give everyone the low-down on how we should be having sex. Because we all know that in the modern age, the best way to get your message across on the important things is via the glorious Insta feed.

As any true sex aficionado, Cardi gave us all the reasons why we shouldn’tuse certain lighting.

Instagram / @iamcardib

She begins by explaining why a fully-lit room can ruin the mood. ”If I see a pimple on a n**** face, it distract me from cumming because now I wanna pop the pimple … I can’t focus at all,” she said. Clearly, Cardi B is one of those people who can watch one of those Youtube vids showing pimples getting popped in graphic detail, without getting squicked out over it. More power to her – except for when she’s in bed, obviously.

Next, Cardi brought out the next point in her argument: that there’s no way you wanna be banging when it’s pitch black.

Instagram / @iamcardib

”You know you start seeing monsters when it’s too dark and sh*t. Oh, b*tch, I’m scared I wanna get out of here,” she explained. Okay, so now somehow we’re not only getting hints and tips on getting the best out of our time in the bedroom, we’re also learning more about Cardi B. She’s afraid of the dark? Man, it’s time for her to invest in some cute lil fairy lights or something. We all know that even though that hipster aesthetic is hella adorable, it was really made for people who aren’t a fan of the dark.

And then, Cardi B schooled us on how we should be setting the mood when we’re in the bedroom.

“You know when you’re in the club, when that blue light is on and everyone looks beautiful … you look beautiful when the TV light is on,” she said. And you know what, she’s not wrong. There’s something to be said about the dim lighting that a television can provide. After all, “Netflix and chill” was invented for a reason, right? And now it’s evolved beyond just being a simple pickup line, into an actual phenomenon, thanks to Cardi B.

But, this brings up more questions: is it possible for whatever’s on TV to be too distracting?

Instagram / @iamcardib

For us hippies out here: would a lava lamp suffice? What about sound coming from the TV? Are we going to ignore the initial awkwardness of getting hot and heavy with someone, to then fiddling with the lights and turning on the television? If Cardi’s gonna argue this, then she’s gonna need to go all out and really explore the topic with us. We. Need. Answers. And if this turns into a series on Insta, we’re breaking out the popcorn.

Anyway, as you’ve probably already guessed, things are blowing up on Insta and on Twitter.

Instagram / @iamcardib

The comments were alive with people applauding Cardi for sharing a universal truth. It’s now a fact, babes.

Some of these comments though…

Instagram / @iamcardib

Others were surprised that what should be a sexy night in can turn into a full-on ghost story for our girl.

Maybe not too surprising, Cardi B had her supporters online.

Instagram / @iamcardib

Chances are Cardi isn’t the first one to have discovered the benefit of a blue light, with some fans applauding her statement and making them feel seen.

Things were a bit different on Twitter, though.

It probably doesn’t help that Cardi also took to Twitter to share her thoughts on spitting and sex – and suddenly everyone had to Tweet their thoughts on what was going on behind the scenes for Cardi B. This led some to inquire about the health of Cardi and Offset’s relationship. We can answer this now, for you: they’re doing fine, of course – Cardi’s got the whole TV lighting thing sorted, after all!

Others had a bit of a giggle – because Cardi B was doing what Cardi does best. No, not rapping – chatting about sex online!

A fan or two couldn’t help but think about what Cardi’s comments meant for Cardi and Offset’s sex life.

At the end of the day Cardi B is out here doing God’s work, since she’s destigmatizing women having a sexual appetite, one Instagram rant at a time. Thanks, Cardi. And for those of you who are curious about the original post, we’ve got it right herefor you. Yeah, you’re welcome.

This Father Hates Reggaetón But His Daughter Is A Bad Bunny Super Fan So They Wrote A Play About It

There is nothing that a Latino dad wouldn’t do for his princesa and that includes, apparently, writing a play about her and her adoration for the Boricua pop culture icon known as Bad Bunny. If that wasn’t enough, his daughter takes center stage at the play. Keep on reading for more on this adorbs padre-hija collaboration. If you are in Puerto Rico and are a Bad Bunny fan, you should definitely have a look… at least out of curiosity.

The title of the play is “Mi Hija Ama a Bad Bunny”, o sea “My Daughter Loves Bad Bunny” and it will have a limited run at the end of the month.

The play was written by this man, Agustín Rosario, who will also direct. The play will have a limited run on September 27-29 at the Teatro Arrivi in Santurce and has previously done the rounds in community theaters throughout la isla del encanto. Seeing a family collaboration on the stage must be pretty special! Rosario had enjoyed success with two previous plays, “Hijas de su madre” and “Nos vamos pal cara”. Rosario returns to acting, and says: “I am acting again to be with my daughter in her professional debut and to collaborate in her development as an actor.

It is being described as a comedy that explores an intergenerational clash… the dad hates reggaeton and the daughter lives for it!

Long story short, the dad thinks that Bad Bunny’s lyrics and overall persona is violent and not a good influence for his little princess. This is all told as the father is going through a marital breakup, so he is not in a very good place. He seems to be the typical viejo gruñón. So the table is set for a good old fashioned telenovela-like plot with plenty of enredos.

As Nuevo Dia describes it, the show is about “A generational gap and resentment due to his divorce”. Sounds like one of those movies that Robert DeNiro has starred in recently.

The male protagonist not only takes on his own personal crusade against music, but also against technology and anything else that doesn’t fit into his narrow, conservative worldview. The cast also includes Agustin Rosario, Ile Nicole Rosario, Noelia Crespo, Ali Warrington and Deddie Romero.

The plot line is very similar to a real life story about a father who spoke out against the gender violence inherent in Bad Bunny’s lyrics… only for his daughter to ACTUALLY STAR in one of the raeggetonero’s music videos!

The poor man’s name is Pepo García and earlier this year he published a post on Facebook basically trashing Bad Bunny. Well, his daughter Natalia started a career in modeling and, lo and behold, she landed a great, star-making and profitable gig: the leading lady the video for the Bad Bunny song “Callaita”! Damn, las vueltas que da la vida, compas. Did Rosario draw inspiration from this real life event? BTW, Pepo García later retracted from his comments and wrote that the callaito should be him. Calladito te ves mas bonito!

How many Latino fathers and daughters can relate to this story? We guess many!

Reggaeton is a very controversial genre due to the explicit nature of some of the lyrics and the fact that it embodies some ideas of toxic masculinity and traditional gender roles that are frankly medieval (we hate to admit it!). So the plot might resonate with many families where parents are literally scratching their heads over the stuff that their kids listen too!

But we gotta remember that what was controversial a few years ago is no big deal now!

Yes, there was a time when Elvis’ hip thrusts were deemed as immoral, as un insulto a las buenas costumbres.

And let’s give Bad Bunny a break: he is actually pretty socially and politically engaged. Maybe the dad in the play can like him a little bit?

When things got candentes in the island around the resignation of the now former governor Ricardo Roselló, he even paused his music career to join the protests that attempted to make Roselló step down as his homophobic and sexist views were made public.

Bad Bunny wrote then in an Instagram post: “I am pausing my career. After [my concerts] my agenda was to fly back to Miami. But I’m canceling everything. I’m pausing my career because I don’t have the heart or mind to do music […] I’m going to Puerto Rico. I’m not going to turn my back on you. We have to continue taking the streets”. And well, his efforts alongside Residente and Ricky Martin, paid off.
