“So I said to her ‘Okay, first of all, you have to show me your underwear.'”

Television star Sofía Vergara was on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” this week to promote her show “Modern Family,” which returned for its ninth season Wednesday night. Oh, and also her new line of underwear. Called EBY, an acronym for “Empowered By You,” the subscription-based underwear service sends monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly packages of undies to customers via mail. Ten percent of the proceeds from their sales go towards helping women in Colombia start their own businesses. Her business partner, Renata Black, a fellow Colombiana, approached her with the idea when they first met. Vergara’s reaction was “you have to show me your underwear” and the rest was history.

EBY will not only be an underwear brand, but a partner to small business owners across Colombia.

They’ll take proceeds from the underwear sales and help fund women who own small businesses as well as women who want to start a business in Colombia. They have plans to bring their model to the U.S. after all the natural disasters that have recently taken place.

She then showed Colbert a sample of what they look like — by pulling out her own.

The underwear seemingly appearing from nowhere really took Colbert by surprise. She said to him, “Hold it it’s clean!” Colbert replied, “That’s a neat trick… I’ve seen bras being taken off before, but that is…” he trailed off, a little dumbfounded.

The company website says that from kidnapping to cancer, Vergara has been through the ringer and her resilience is what Colombian women and the company are made of.

Vergara then used her undies to show Colbert how to be a classy gentleman.

I can see the “Shark Tank” sales pitch now: “They’re panties and pocket squares.” Then someone else in the sales pitch shouts, “You’re a genius! One billion dollars!”

The underwear are made for women of all shapes and sizes to enjoy.

From extra small to 4XL, Vergara says they tried to think of all women.

Vergara also spoke about working on a hurricane relief telethon, where she had Julia Roberts on one side and Oprah on the other.

I'm stalking @oprah while waiting to answer your call!! 1-800-258-6000 or text GIVE to 80077 to give $25

Sofia Vergara Will Be Starring In a Gender-Swapped ‘Zorro’ TV Series Reboot Produced By Robert Rodriguez

Just when you thought you’d heard it all, news of Sofia Vergara playing Zorro’ TV Series comes out, and you have to start questioning everything.

That’s right–recently the news broke that Vergara will be starring in a “Zorro” TV series where she’ll be playing a female version of the legendary masked vigilante.

According to the press release, the Colombian beauty will be playing the character of Sola Dominguez, an “underground artist who fights for social justice as a contemporary version of the mythical Zorro’ TV Series.” The plot will thicken as Dominguez’s “life is threatened by several criminal organizations after she exposes them.” So…it sounds like the series will also be set in modern times? Interesting.

The character of “Zoro” was created by Johnston McCulley in 1919. The legend follows a masked, caped crusader (alias: Don Diego de la Vega) in Alta California who defends Indigenous and poor Californians from the heartless and exploitative ruling class.

The wildly popular character started off appearing in the pages of pulp fiction books before making his big-screen debut in 1920. Since then, the character has been played by everyone from Douglas Fairbanks to Antonio Banderas to Christian Meier.

This time around, the reboot is being produced by Mexican-American Robert Rodriguez of “Machete” and “Spy Kids” fame.

According to reports, the pilot will be directed by Robert Rodriguez’s sister, writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez. So that means the main creative team is made up of Latinos and will be spearheaded by a woman. This sounds like a super exciting project!

This isn’t the first time that Rodriguez and Vergara have partnered up professionally. The duo previously teamed up for 2013’s Machete Kills in which Vergara played a deadly and seductive brothel owner.

This isn’t the first time that Robert Rodriguez has been attached to a Zorro movie. He was initially set to direct 1999’s version, The Mask of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas, but ended up shelving that project due to creative differences.

We hope that Rodriguez can truly execute his vision this time around! We love to see Latinos as a creative force in front of and behind the camera.

Sofia Vergara Finally Breaks Silence About When Ellen DeGeneres Disrespected Her Accent

Updated August 24, 2020.

Given the recent string of allegations against Ellen DeGeneres, many of her fans are taking inventory of her jokes and viewing them in a new light. Weighing and measuring the jokes DeGeneres has made in the past, fans are finding the comedian guilty of mean-spiritedness. Particularly when it comes to her treatment of her frequent show guest Sofia Vergara over the years.

Over the last decade, DeGeneres has had time to host Vergara on her talk show various times. Whether Vergara was herself or when she was sitting alongside the rest of the cast of her old show “Modern Family.” And despite the very many things DeGeneres could have talked to or celebrated Vergara for while hosting her, the Colombian actress was often subject to some of the worst jokes by DeGeneres.

All because of her thick accent.

Recently fans compiled clips of DeGeneres’s interviews with Vergara and it’s pretty not great.

In clips circulating on Twitter, DeGeneres can be seen jeering Vergara for her accent. During one interview, DeGeneres remarks hat Vergara’s “English has gotten worse, not better,” over the course of her time on “Modern Family.” Users on Twitter were quick to point out that DeGeneres often made jokes about Vergara’s English and often tried to make games out of her English-speaking abilities. In several incidents during the interviews, it seems pretty evident that Vergara might have been hurt by DeGeneres’ jokes.

Recently, Vergara addressed claims that DeGeneres was being racist towards her.

In response to allegations that DeGeneres was being racist, Vergara commented “Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain,” in a tweet going on to say “I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.”

In response to Vergara’s message fans have pointed out that whether done with the intention of being racist towards Vergara specifically, DeGeneres’ jokes at the time were still hurtful to others.

“My parents, who have heavy spanish accents, didn’t have the option to be in on the joke.’ Instead, they were the butt of jokes,” one user wrote. “And as a child of immigrants, I was always picked on because of that. Your ‘entertainment’ may lead to some to think they have a free pass to ridicule.”

“Me too, my poor mom took classes to try to reduce her accent despite being perfectly understandable. The discrimination was even worse in the 80s but Ellen keeps it alive,” another Twitter user commented. “It’s the lowest form of humor, the put down towards the other person. It’s non funny peoples humor.”

DeGeneres has yet to comment on the clips that have resurfaced.

But they’re pretty damning.

Tons of people are commenting on the clips being shared of the actresses time together.

And it’s pretty heartbreaking how hurtful DeGeneres’ comments are.

And of course, you might remember this terrible offense.
