Sally Yates Destroyed Ted Cruz And Social Media Did A Victory Lap

TIME / YOUTUBE

Ted Cruz is no stranger to arguing the finer points of an issue. The 46-year-old Texas Senator has won national debate championships and he has fared well in multiple town halls, including his recent sparring match with Bernie Sanders. Yesterday, however, Rep. Ted Cruz found himself up against former acting Attorney General Sally Yates in an exchange that was the political equivalent of Canelo v. Chavez Jr. Yates and Cruz discussed many issues around President Trump’s travel ban, which Yates famously blocked, leading to her removal as Deputy Attorney General. Several times, Cruz attempted to undermine Yates’ authority on legal matters, but she was the acting Attorney General, so she was more than fluent in the language of the law, leading to many awkward moments for Cruz during the exchange.

Cruz’s attempts to one-up Yates fell flat, and many were impressed with the easy work Yates made of the Texas Senator.

Those who follow politics loved how poised Yates was during the exchange, which many described as “heated.”

Because Sally Yates brought the fire.

????

And they hated Cruz’s attempt to “mansplain” legal matters to someone with years of legal experience.

Did anyone really think Sally Yates would crumble because of Ted Cruz?

Yates’ performance was the breath of fresh air so many people needed.

Many wondered how Cruz would recover.

Democratic Senators, though probably biased, also agreed that Yates clearly outclassed Cruz in the exchange.

Other people consider this Cruz’s most cringe-worthy moment since that time his own daughter refused to kiss him.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was one of the most outspoken politicians pushing conspiracy theories that the election was stolen. Video of Sen. Cruz talking to a crowd about defending liberty is going viral as members of Congress and constituents call for him to resign.

Sen. Ted Cruz is facing calls to resign as some accuse him of inciting the deadly Capitol Hill riots.

Sen. Ted Cruz has been a loyal supporter of President Trump since losing to him in the 2016 primaries. Sen. Cruz has voted in President Trump’s favor over the years and was one of the loudest voices casting doubt on the fair 2020 elections.

The above video is from a campaign rally in Georgia, just days before the surreal scenes of Trump supporters invading the Capitol. Many are pointing to his rhetoric as inciting and promoting what happened.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one member of Congress calling out Sen. Cruz.

Sen. Cruz, along with Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., are facing relentless calls to resign from constituents, colleagues, and political pundits. People are horrified with the attack on the democratic system Jan. 6 and see these two senators are the most culpable. The two Republican senators are even facing these calls from other Republicans.

“Some senators, for political gain, misled supporters about their ability to challenge the election results — some even sent out fundraising emails while insurrectionists stormed the Capitol,” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., tweeted Thursday echoing the claim that Sen. Cruz used the terrifying riot to fundraise. “That stops now — Republicans ought to focus on countering the Democrats’ radical agenda.”

Sen. Cruz tried pushing back and calling Rep. AOC a liar but, receipts.

A growing coalition of bipartisan senators and congresspeople are calling for the resignation or expulsion of Sen. Cruz and Sen. Hawley. The calls are being echoed by major newspapers and Americans who witnessed the mob breaching Capitol Hill. Both the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The Kansas City Star are calling for Sen. Hawley to resign.

Sen. Ted Cruz Faces Backlash Over Insensitive Tweet About Thanksgiving And Covid

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has been criticized for misleading the public on Covid. Last week, the Texan faced backlash after criticizing a Democratic senator for wearing a mask while inside the Senate. Covid cases are surging in all states with Texas among the worse, but Sen. Cruz will do anything to protect his Thanksgiving.

Sen. Ted Cruz is taking a big stand in the name of Covid community spread.

The week before Thanksgiving, Sen. Cruz posted a tweet implying his stance to gather for Thanksgiving. Health experts in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are urging Americans to avoid gatherings and traveling for the holiday season as cases spike to all-time highs.

“Right now, we’re alarmed, again, with the exponential increase in cases and hospitalists and death,” Dr. Henry Walke said in a press conference. “Amidst this critical phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC is recommending against travel during the Thanksgiving period.”

The Republican politician is facing backlash for the insensitivity of the tweet.

Cases of the virus are surging as Americans tire of social distancing with no leadership or assistance from the federal government. Millions of Americans are being forced into renewed lockdown measures to prevent a post holiday surge as cases continue to climb. The U.S. has experienced an 18-day trend of more than 100,000 cases daily.

The U.S. needs to heed the science and experience in Canada. In October, Canadians gathered for Thanksgiving celebrations and it spelled disaster. Six weeks after the holiday, Canada broke Covid records and the country was faced with the worst of the outbreak.

The tweet is more upsetting to people from the senator’s homestate.

El Paso dealt with a devastating spike. The Texas county was hard hit as Covid surged leading to mobile morgues being packed with bodies of Covid victims. County officials were pleading with El Pasoans to do their part in making sure the virus doesn’t spread. Sen. Cruz’s tweet shows a lack of compassion for Texans suffering from the pandemic as Thanksgiving approaches.

Some Twitter users are pointing out Texas’ food crisis creating long lines for food banks.

Texas, which became the first state to record 1 million infections, has seen an increase in the need for food. According to CNN, The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) gave out about 600,000 pounds of food for 25,000 people in the area. Millions are losing unemployment benefits after Covid and the lack of a federal response prompted mass layoffs across the nation in various industries, especially the hospitality industry.

We have to be vigilant as the holidays approach to protect our loved ones.

More than 250,000 people have died from Covid since the virus started to spread in the U.S. More than 12 million Americans have been diagnosed with the virus that Sen. Cruz dismisses. It is important to remember that you need to wear masks, social distance, and wash your hands to slow the virus’ spread. We are getting closer to a vaccine but we still have to put in the work to protect ourselves.
