AOC Was Mocked by Fox News for Doing #TheLatinaThing And Now Its Trending

ocasio2018 / Instagram

Catch your breath, folks, more racist mierda is being aired on FOX News. This time, the culprit is Laura Ingraham and her guest for making fun of the way that Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pronounces her name. They call it “that Latina thing.”

Of course, the real Latina thing to do is to clapback so hard that a full fledged Twitter hashtag trend is born. Internet, let’s do this thing. Here’s what you need to know before you do your #LatinaThing.

FOX News has been criticizing absolutely everything AOC wears, says, and even how she says it.

It’s the lowest of news journalism that feeds off the sexist, racist ideologies of their viewership and it needs to stop. AOC has stepped up in responding to every mentira said about her on air.

It starts out with host Laura Ingraham asking her conservative guest if he notices how AOC “puts on” an accent with her name.

FOX News couldn’t have captioned this segment more perfectly. Let it be known that Ingraham is the same woman who called AOC a “horsewoman of the apocalypse.” Really solid journalism happening right here.

Conservative lawyer Joe diGenova actually mocked her while calling her “Anastasio Ocasio-Cortez.”

“She does the Latina thing where she does her, you know, ‘Anastasio Ocasio-Cortez.” He then tried to make it okay by saying that if he pronounced his name in an exaggerated Italian accent that it would be tantamount to the same thing. Wrong.

The Latino Internet has officially erupted.

Yup. Why is it news-worthy? Because FOX News viewership feeds off the fear of changing demographics in the U.S. like nothing else.

Of course, AOC has become a pro at brushing racism off her shoulders.

We do not envy you, AOC, but we’re here for you. Thank you.

Why is this even a lesson in 2019?

When you’re multi-lingual, you pronounce your name how it sounds. Good burn though, AOC. All Ingraham does is talk and rile up an ever more racist, violent base.

Claro, AOC couldn’t let a good burn go without putting it to the fire. 👏 😂

Does it hurt, Ingraham? Have you learned your lesson yet?

Here’s another life lesson we’re still getting white conservative pundits to understand:

No part of our names are optional. They’re on our birth certificates because they’re our names. Use them.

Latinas came out in full force to explain why they use their full names.

@drssotto / Twitter

I’ll say it again. It’s simple: they’re our names, which signify as much to us as ‘Jones’ does to the Jones’.

And then there’s this frustrating bit:

Just take a moment to get a little uncomfortable and then say our names correctly. It’ll pay off.

Other folks shared the pride in using our full names: to honor our mothers:

We don’t just ignore our maternal family lines. We honor them both. It’s a Latina thing.

You can’t stop a Queen from checking her jesters.

No response yet from Ingraham or FOX News. We don’t expect apologies from them, because they’ve yet to be held accountable for spewing any racist remarks.

And you can’t stop Twitter from painting a pretty clear picture.

Ingraham ‘accidentally’ made a Nazi salute at a rally and we just don’t understand. Why?

Ingraham has publicly stated that she’s learning Spanish for her Guatemalan daughter and now this?

I hope Latina girls everywhere are looking to AOC to really understand what it means to take up space as a Latina.

Some folks shared the racism they’ve experienced in every day life by just using a Spanish accent.

It’s no joke. People are getting detained by ICE simply for speaking Spanish. This is a real crisis.

Real talk: Ingraham and her viewership are all living in fear.

They’re scared of us, and what we represent: a diverse, multilingual America. Talk sh*t about us and we can say it back twice in two different tongues.

Meanwhile, AOC is gracing the cover of TIME Magazine.

Don’t think you’ll make the cover, Ingraham, with your trademark racist undertoned of a talk show.

We’re rooting for you, AOC! Keep doing #TheLatinaThing!

AOC is busy creating equitable laws in our country, making sure they’re being held accountable in her district, and representing her diverse constituents. She’s saving the world.

Let’s DO it, folks! Let’s make #TheLatinaThing happen!

In the years since Donald Trump took up the role of president of the United States, the front pages of newspapers and media sites have depicted images of starving children behind bars and parents being separated and detained from their infants. Social scientists and historians specializing in internment camps and have said that today’s U.S. detention centers look pretty similar to the dawn of earlier historical atrocities and yet the question of what these images evoke are still being questioned.

Conservatives aren’t happy with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez once again after the novice representative for New York’s 14th congressional district likened Trump’s actions to the early phases of the Holocaust.

During a recent streaming on Instagram Live, Ocasio-Cortez said that “The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border.”

“The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are — they are concentration camps,” Ocasio-Cortez said to an Instagram Live audience on Monday. “And if that doesn’t bother you … I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that we should not, that ‘never again’ means something… The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing, and we need to do something about it.” The phrase “never again” has become used by Jewish people when talking about the Holocaust.

During her stream, Ocasio-Cortez also pointed to the thousands of migrant children were being held in facilities that had been used to detain Japanese Americans during World War II.

Ocasio-Cortez’s reference relates to last week when the Department of Health and Human Services, which is meant to care for unaccompanied migrant children, announced that it would begin to use Fort Sill Army Base, located in Oklahoma, to hold minors. The base was formerly an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II. It was also used previously by the Obama administration as a base for detaining migrant children.

Ocasio- Cortez referred said that how we proceed in addressing the current “crisis” as a country will work as a reflection as to whether or not we are losing our principles and values to an “authoritarian and fascist presidency.”

“I don’t use those words lightly. I don’t use those words to just throw bombs. I use that word because that is what an administration that creates concentration camps is,” Ocasio- Cortez said. “A presidency that creates concentration camps is fascist, and it’s very difficult to say that, because it is very difficult to accept the fact that that is how bad things have gotten, but that is how bad things have gotten.”

In response, Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 Republican in the House, accused the democrat of disrespecting the Jewish people killed during the Holocaust.

“Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history. 6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. You demean their memory and disgrace yourself with comments like this,” the Wyoming Republican tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez quickly responded “Hey Rep. Cheney, since you’re so eager to ‘educate me,’ I’m curious: What do YOU call building mass camps of people being detained without a trial? How would you dress up DHS’s mass separation of thousands children at the border from their parents?”

New Doc Shows Steve Bannon Manipulating Information About AOC, And How Easily He Creates False Narratives

President Donald Trump may have coined the phrase “fake news,” but his administration has certainly dished out misinformation from the get-go. Since Trump’s election, it’s as if the Republicans and Democrats — along with their respective commentators — are quick to draw a narrative on whatever issue or topic even if it’s not correct.

The best way to squash a lie is to have tangible evidence that proves otherwise.

Last summer, former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon flat out lied and said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s election campaign aimed to impeach Trump.

The evidence of Bannon’s lie was caught during the filming of the documentary “The Brink.” Bannon, who worked in the White House between 2016-2017, said that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez ran on a ticket that was all about impeaching the president. There’s proof that never happened, yet Bannon’s bald-faced lie could be taken as truth because of his manipulative way of speaking.

The documentary was filmed last year during the historic midterm elections in which Democrats took over the House.

YouTube

The film’s director Alison Klayman told The Daily Beast that Bannon’s comment came just a month after Rep. Ocasio-Cortez had won her election. She said that viewers should note how easily he manipulated the topic by first paying Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a compliment, then outright lying, which makes it harder for people to discern the lie.

The director said was surprised how easily Bannon tried to spin a false narrative without having the facts to back it up.

“AOC has recently won her primary, and I had watched her victory speech online. I was struck by how substantive her speech was (later in the film I used her voice along with other victorious female Dems in an election-night montage precisely for this reason). I wanted to know what Bannon thought of her at this moment, and as you see, his response is pure positioning without real knowledge to back it up,” explains Klayman. “He expresses some admiration for her and then goes on to completely mischaracterize her victory speech, falling back on a caricature of a hysterical Democrat triggered by Trump. She didn’t mention Trump once in her whole speech.”
