Latino Celebrity Cheating Scandals That Shook Our Faith In True Love

If there is one thing we have learned from telenovelas is that cheating happens. Not only does it happen, it can be intense af. It is one of the most emotionally charged moments in anyone’s life and we’ve seen it tear our favorite celebrities apart.

Here’s a list of Latino celebrities who had serious lapses of judgement while they were involved in long-term relationships.

Joan Sebastian

Did the rugged Latin pop + ranchera singer-songwriter bask in his cheating ways in his 2001 ballad, “Secreto de Amor”? The song does say the person is his secret love. He might have been referring to the woman he cheated with while with his longtime love Maribel Guardia.

Mario Lopez

Before settling down with his current wife and being known as one of Hollywood’s most doting fathers, Mario Lopez had to overcome his playboy image after a hard-partying bachelor weekend. Engaged to Ali Landry at the time, Lopez told Howard Stern on his radio show that he got caught in a poolside photo with another woman in Mexico. Landry called off the wedding just days before they were to exchange vows.

Juanes

Did Juanes have to get on his knees and ask “a Dios le pido” for his wife to forgive him after he became engulfed in a cheating scandal in 2004? Although the Colombian singer never explicitly admitted to having an affair, the couple decided to separate for a brief period. This lead the media and fans to believe it was because Juanes had been unfaithful. The couple reunited and our going strong while raising their beautiful family in Miami.

Shakira and Gerard Pique might have a storybook romance now including two adorable kids, but when they first met, both were in serious relationships with other people. The two met while filming Shakira’s music video for the 2010 World Cup and there was a serious attraction for the both of them.

Daisy Fuentes

Model Daisy Fuentes had been in a decade-long relationship with her boyfriend Matt Goss when they were finally set to be engaged in 2003. After seven years of still being engaged, Fuentes seemed to have gotten the seven-year itch because she cheated on Goss with her ex, pop superstar Luis Miguel.

Kat Von D

Tattoo artist and TV personality Kat Von D was making a name for herself on shows “Miami Ink” and “LA Ink” but then turned into half of one of the most-hated couples in America. People were furious when they found out that Jesse James had cheated on America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, with Kat Von D. Now Kat has moved on from James and recently married Prayers band member Rafael Reyes.

A-Rod

Before A-Rod was being a mood for boyfriends everywhere, he wasn’t meeting the standards of a faithful partner to his first wife. His wife Cynthia Rodriguez cited “emotional abandonment” as well as extra-marital affairs as reasons for divorcing the high-profile baseball player. Ten years later, it seems A-Rod has grown in his emotional maturity in regards to relationship.

Robert Rodriguez

Filmmaker and producer Robert Rodriguez had been in a 16-year relationship with his wife and business partner Elizabeth Avellán. Yet, in 2009, rumors started to pop up that he was having an on-set affair with actress Rose McGowan. The pair split up but continued their professional relationship. As for Rodriguez and McGowan, their relationship fizzled out after dating for two years.

Gabriel Soto

Mexican television actor Gabriel Soto was embroiled in a cheating scandal with actress Marjorie de Sousa after she claimed he was the father of her child. DNA tests proved otherwise but that didn’t mean his relationship with his wife, actress Geraldine Bazán, was not affected as a result. The two actors divorced this year after three separate cheating scandals from Soto shook up their marriage.

Shakira Dyed Her Hair Red And It Will Give You Major ‘Ojos Asi’ Vibes

Twenty years have passed since Shakira released her fourth studio album ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? which featured her song “Ojos Asi.”

The music video for the hit song featured Shakira belly dancing with a vibrant red hair look that so many of us spent the early aughts attempting to emulate. The video won the International Viewer’s Choice Award (North) at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards and the hair won a place in our hearts.

Now, it’s 2021 and Shakira has returned to the red color.

The Colombian singer-songwriter showed off her dyed locks in a post shared on her Instagram on Wednesday.

The post showed Shakira preparing for a recording session and saw her dressed in a chic green-and-white outfit. She teased her upcoming project with the caption “Ready to leave my house to go to my first in-person studio session to meet with some awesome collaborators thanks to safety measures and vaccines. I can’t wait!”

Shakira made waves earlier this month on Instagram that weren’t about her hair.

In an effort to highlight Earth Day, Shakira signed a letter written by Earth shot Prize Council which called on people to tackle our planet’s current climate crisis with the same tenacity used to fight Covid-19.

In a post shared to her Instagram and Twitter pages the singer wrote “As a Member of The @EarthshotPrize Council, I’m calling on the world to Give the Earth a Shot. This #EarthDay, let’s be inspired by the innovation of the past year & work together to repair our planet.”

She also attached a link to the full letter which underlined how “People everywhere have worn masks, stayed at home and made sacrifices for the greater good. The availability of vaccines after just a year is both a triumph of science and a victory for collaboration. There is a long way to go. None of us are safe until everybody is safe. But we have learned what it means to pull together in the face of a truly global crisis. These lessons apply not just to pandemics but to the most pressing challenge in human history: stopping the climate emergency. If we do not act in this decade, the damage to our planet will be irreversible, impacting not only those of us alive today but threatening the future of generations to come.”

Shakira’s upcoming album is most anticipated by her fans. It will be her first studio album release since the 2017 release of her album El Dorado.

Exclusive: Maluma Talks Sun Collab “Rumba,” Working with The Weeknd, J.Lo And More

Maluma is teaming up with the biggest star in the solar system for his new single “Rumba (Puro Oro Anthem).” As part of an Earth Day campaign with Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold, the Colombian superstar joined forces with the sun. He’s also coming on a decade in the music industry. In an exclusive interview with Latido Music, Maluma talked about the inspiration behind “Rumba” and the hottest collaborations of his career.

“Rumba” is part of Maluma’s campaign with Michelob.

“Collaborating with the sun was great,” Maluma tells mitú. “Maybe I’m the only artist in the world who has the opportunity. It’s a big thing for me. I enjoyed the process. I also enjoyed working with Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold. They love the same things that I love like helping the world. I feel grateful.”

Maluma recorded “Rumba (Puro Oro Anthem)” for Michelob to celebrate the beer brand’s ULTRA Pure Gold lager that’s brewed with 100 percent renewable electricity from the sun. The warm reggaeton track was recorded featuring sounds from the actual sun. Maluma wrote it with Keityn and Edgar Berrera, who also composed “Hawái” with him.

“These two guys are geniuses,” Maluma says. “When we work together we’re a dream team. When this campaign came to the table, I told them that I needed a big song. I recorded it in Turks and Caicos around three weeks ago. The song came out great. I love it.”

This year Maluma will be celebrating 10 years in the music industry.

This year, Maluma will be celebrating a decade in the industry since the release of his debut single “Farandulera.” After dropping his breakthrough album Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy in Oct. 2015, Maluma is one of the artists that helped globalize Latin music. He’s happy to be a part of the movement, but he also recognizes the stars that came before him.

“It’s not like we started this year or last year,” Maluma says. “This has been work that started with Ricky Martin’s ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ and Shakira like 15 or 20 years ago. I feel like I’m part of it. I feel proud of it. I feel like we still need to do more things, more big things.”

Next up, Maluma’s fans can see him on tour this fall.

As for what’s next, the “Rumba” music video will be released on Earth Day, April 22. Maluma is also hitting the road this fall for his Papi Juancho Tour in the U.S. The tour kicks off in September and runs through late October.

“Coming back to the stage is something that I really need,” Maluma says. “I miss being with my fans. I miss hugging them. I miss going on tour. I miss the whole lifestyle. I can’t wait to see you guys on tour and sing of course for the first time all my new songs that I released this year.”

Since Maluma is also celebrating 10 years in the industry, we had him break down some of the biggest collaborations in his career.

Jennifer Lopez

Maluma will make his big-screen debut in Marry Me with Jennifer Lopez in Feb. 2022. The movie was pushed back to that date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two singers also collaborated on songs for Marry Me like “Pa’ Ti” and “Lonely.”

“I always wanted to work on a big project,” Maluma says. “In a big movie. I had a couple of opportunities to work on other things, but I said ‘no’ because I was waiting for this big moment. Thanks to Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson and the whole team to make me part of the movie. I have a lot of beautiful moments. She’s great. She’s such a master for me. She taught me many things when we were working together. I would say from the beginning to the end, the whole experience was great.”

The Weeknd

Maluma teamed up with Canadian superstar The Weeknd for a Spanglish remix of “Hawái.” They pushed the song to No. 12 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. Maluma helped The Weeknd with his Spanish in the remix.

“At the beginning, the first vocals he recorded, I had to tell him to change a little bit,” Maluma says. “The ‘Instagram’ part because he was saying it in the wrong way, like pretty bad Spanish. I sent him the vocals, like the way he had to say it, and then he changed it. He’s great. He’s super talented.”

Ziggy Marley

For his latest album 7 Días En Jamaica (#7DJ), Maluma teamed up with Jamaican star Ziggy Marley for the song “Tonika.” He performed the song for the first time with Bob Marley’s son at the Latin American Music Awards last week.

“That was great working with Ziggy,” Maluma says. “He’s one of my favorite artists too. I always wanted to work with him because I’m a huge fan of Bob Marley. It’s one of the best things I could’ve done in the album. He put the Marley DNA in my project and that was great.”

Shakira

Maluma and Colombian icon Shakira have teamed up on a number of collaborations, including the hit singles “Chantaje” and “Clandestino.” They also worked together on “Trap,” another cut from Shakira’s El Dorado album.

“I love working with Shakira, but I have to be honest, it’s not easy because she loves everything to be on-point,” Maluma says. “She’s super strict with everything that she does. I would love to work with her again. She’s a master for me too. She’s one of the first big stars that helped me and wanted to work with me. I’m forever grateful to her for giving me the chance to work with such a big artist.”
