President Trump Is Touring Around The World And Social Media Is Eating It All Up

After facing mounting criticism and talks of impeachment in the United States, President Donald Trump decided to visit a few places with less political turmoil. You know, places like Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the Vatican. And while he might be out of the country, President Trump cannot escape the unblinking eye of social media. Here’s a quick look at a few of the adventures our commander-in-chief has gotten himself into over the past few days.

In Israel, Melania Trump was seen slapping away the president’s outstretched hand. It became “The Swat Heard ‘Round The World.”

No word on whether or not this was a friendly love slap or full on shade. A body language expert has claimed that Melania’s hand slap was in reaction to Trump treating her like a child.

Twitter was quick to jump on Melania’s slap.

They couldn’t hold back the snark.

Or the savagery.

Trump also visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem, making him the first standing president to do so.

The wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, is one of the holiest sites in Jerusalem. Visitors to the Western Wall often leave prayers or wishes in the form of notes.

Trump’s love of walls was not lost on Twitter.

Trump left a note, and some speculated what was written on it.

User @BigAlDell speculated President Trump’s note was less like a prayer and more like a tweet, writing, “I won the electoral college suck it! – DT”

While in Jerusalem, Trump let diplomats know that he had just gotten back from the “Middle East.” Jerusalem is in the Middle East, btw.

While talking to President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, Trump said the following: “We just got back from the Middle East. We just got back from Saudi Arabia. And we were treated incredibly well.”

Trump’s geographical flub didn’t go unnoticed. The individual sitting to Trump’s left couldn’t hide his disbelief.

Straight ??‍♂️ up ??‍♂️ facepalm.

Several members of the Twitterazzi caught the goof-up too.

In Saudi Arabia, President Trump attended the opening of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology in Riyadh.

Nothing weird going on here. Just three world leaders touching a glowing orb in Saudi Arabia.

The Internet showed just how perfect these photos were for memes.

References to movie villains were everywhere.

The background made for the perfect evil-villain layer.

They speculated what magical powers the orb gave President Trump.

Trump plans on meeting with Pope Francis on Wednesday.

While the Pope says he “won’t make a judgment” on Trump until they meet, other Twitter users are less forgiving.

No matter what happens, most people believe the encounter will be somewhat awkward.

But we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

These 11 Tweets Perfectly Sum Up What Happened When The Pope Met Trump

On Wednesday, President Trump and co. met up with Pope Francis in an early morning affair at the Vatican. Speculation leading up to the event was rampant: Would the Pope be nice to Trump? Would the president get into another awkward encounter? In the past, President Trump has not shied away from taking Twitter shots at the Pope. The Pope, on the other hand, has said he would reserve judgment on Trump until actually meeting him. While the meeting between the two was largely uneventful, a single photo appeared online and immediately became the meme of the day. Let’s take a closer look.

Here’s the photo of Pope Francis and President Trump that has everyone talking.

Notice anything about the Pope’s face?

Pope Francis has seen some heavy stuff in his day — famine, war, natural disasters, etc — but this is the face he made when meeting President Trump. Pope Francis looked like I look when I have to sit through Sunday mass.

When the photo was posted online, Pope Francis’ less-than-enthused face went viral.

Everyone was trying to figure out what was going on in Pope Francis’ head when the photo was taken.

Full Frontal tweeted: “Can you please not post this on any social media? I don’t want my boss seeing.” Pope Francis

Some brought up the warm reception Pope Francis has given to previous world leaders.

Pope Francis was able to smile with Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and even Mexico’s President, Enrique Peña Nieto.

Pope Francis is known for his warm, affable smile.

Usually.

VICE marveled at how sad “the happiest Pope” had become in Trump’s presence.

It’s as if the Pope didn’t hear the word, “cheese.”

The Pope’s reaction reminded people of Michelle Obama at Trump’s inauguration.

The Pope and Michelle should hang out.

A few cracked jokes about Pope Francis performing an exorcism on President Trump.

In a reference to The Exorcist, @Crutnacker tweeted:

Why do you keep saying “the power of Christ compels you” and hitting me with water?

Pope: Testing a theory.

@BarryMalone76 joked about converting to Catholicism.

Some Catholics thoroughly loved Pope Francis’ reaction.

@ritabites tweeted:

the pope looking so pissed to be next to trump is making being catholic almost worth it.

There was speculation on possible conversations in the room.

@RedTRaccoon tweeted:

Pope Francis, “Who died?”

Ivanka, “Freedom, peace, and hope.”

The awkward encounter was the perfect “Curb Your Enthusiasm” moment.

Of course, one person was super excited about the meeting.

@realDonaldTrump tweeted:

Honor of a lifetime to meet His Holiness Pope Francis. I leave the Vatican more determined to pursue PEACE in our world.
