Yasiel Puig Threw A Ball That Knocked Out A Fan’s Tooth, So He Apologized

This is Alyssa Gerharter.

Earlier this week, the hardcore L.A. Dodgers fan was watching her team defeat the New York Yankees 8-2. After the game was over, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig threw a ball at the section where Gerharter was sitting. Everyone jumped at the chance to grab a souvenir, but…

…when the ball reached the scrum, it ended up hitting Gerharter’s mouth, knocking out one of her teeth. She ended up in the E.R. to get treatment.

Gerharter told The New York Daily News: “I saw it was coming at me and registered that it was coming at me, and I felt it hit me. It wasn’t so much painful as it was shock. So I felt it hit me and I could feel immediately with my tongue there’s a hole. And I looked down at my hand and saw there’s a tooth in my hand.”

Gerharter later realized she was making headlines across the country.

But she kept her sense of humor about the whole thing…

And thanked the Internet for being cool about it.

Gerharter didn’t let the injury faze her. She was back to watch the Dodgers two days later.

But she was hoping that the game didn’t end with another trip to the E.R.

Luckily for Gerharter, the game ended without incident.

Yasiel Puig, who heard about his inadvertent dental work, decided to make it up to Gerharter.

Puig met up with Gerharter, signing a baseball for her and posing for a few photos after the game.

“Had to make sure my friend was ok after she was hit with a ball,” wrote Puig on Twitter.

Gerharter made a banner with the phrase “#PUIGMYTOOTH,” a play on the Cuban pelotero’s catchphrase/hashtag “#PuigYourFriend.”

They each deserve a tip of the cap: Gerharter for taking it all in stride, and Puig for showing he truly appreciates his fans.
