Watch This Hardworking Latino Do His Job As An Angry Trump Supporter Yells At Him

This man first was making fun of my clients while we were sitting at McDonald’s, and now he’s purposefully throwing his trash on the floor and telling the Hispanic worker to go back to Mexico! I seriously couldn’t believe this. What is this world coming too ????

Your racism is showing, America.

The video above is short, but it says so much. An angry, white old man wearing a Trump shirt is yelling at a Latino worker at a McDonald’s. “Go back to Mexico!” the Trump supporter spews. And how does the employee respond? By doing his job.

Ang Hernandez, a 25-year-old from Emporia, Kansas, who works with developmentally disabled adults, uploaded the above clip to Facebook to bring attention to the encounter. According to Hernandez, the unidentified Trump supporter was purposefully throwing napkins on the floor.

“I wanted others to see that this is happening in our own town,” Hernandez told Mitú in a phone interview. Hernandez says that this is the first time she’s truly witnessed such a blatant display of racism in her town, which she claims is diverse because of Emporia State University, the local public college. The rising popularity of Donald Trump however, has changed that.

“I think the way Donald Trump is speaking about Mexicans has made it easier for people to believe that we are the problem,” added Hernandez, who’s Mexican-American. She’s not wrong. The GOP frontrunner’s rallies have turned violent here and there, and Trump supporters have invoked his name while assaulting non-white people.

But the short clip is more than just about highlighting an example of Trump-inspired racism. Hernandez said that she also wanted to highlight how the McDonald’s worker reacted to the incident.

“The worker didn’t respond and just smiled,” she noted. “At one point, he started dancing with his broom. I wanted to show how good of a person he was. It truly showed his character.”

11 Things All Bilingual Kids Know To Be True

ABC

Bilingualism is getting a lot of attention these days, with older generations of Latinos worrying about younger people speaking too much English and plenty of insecure bozos getting very angry over the same group speaking too much Spanish. It’s like we can’t win! EXCEPT, YES WE CAN. Because being bilingual is awesome! And sometimes awkward, sure. Allow us to explain.

You get twice the chisme.

Get that tea and that scalding café, bb.

You’re basically a one-person United Nations translation committee.

You’re able to help soothe the language barrier between two people, and that’s kind of like having a super power, if you think about it.

And can feel at home in several places.

You can move through neighborhoods, regions and entire countries knowing that you won’t need translation help.

Of course, then there’s the issue of wondering whether to pronounce words in Spanish *properly.*

Awkward. Like, no one wants to be the person who over-pronounces “Nicaragua” while speaking in English.

You can bond with other people like you.

There’s nothing like the bond between two people who can share chisme in Spanish among monolingual gringos.

…And be shady, if you’re about that life.

Just sayin.’

Often enough, your grasp of two languages allows you to communicate with different generations.

You’re connected to the past, present and future. For so many of us, Spanish ties us to our families, while English is increasingly the language used at work and among friends. Knowing both means we’re able to inhabit several worlds simultaneously.

Your language skills are GOOD for your brain.

You friggin’ genius, you.

And you can weed out the haters.
