This “Panda” Parody Will Bring Back Memories Of Getting Hit With The Chancla

CREDIT: Natalya La Mexicana / YouTube

Warning: if you have ever been pegged, slapped, or flogged with a chancla, turn away now.

Much like the hidden blade in “Assassin’s Creed,” the chancla is the weapon of choice for Latina mothers.  They keep their chanclas hidden in plain sight, waiting for deployment if you push them to the damn edge. There were times when my mother wasn’t even wearing them and suddenly one was flying directly at my head or back or legs. One time my tia threw a chancla that hit me and three of my cousins in a single toss. We weren’t even doing anything, she just said that we looked like we were about to do something. We still flinch when she goes to scratch her ankles.

Now you can relive your chancla-inflicted PTSD with this parody of Desiigner’s  “Panda.” Don’t get confused though. “Panda” is a song about pandas, or possibly about the BMW X6, both of which are cute, fun things. Chanclas aren’t any of those things. “Chancla” came to our attention after this recent post, when the talented Natalya La Mexicana posted a link to her video in our comments section. We’re glad she did.

Ellen DeGeneres Finally Addressed Those Toxic Workplace Allegations In Her Show’s Season Premiere

TheEllenShow / Youtube

On Monday, host, and actress Ellen DeGeneres returned to her show for her first episode since her daytime talk show came under investigation for harboring a “toxic” workplace environment. Intent on restoring her sunny reputation, the comedian addressed the allegations head-on with an opening monologue that described her summer as “great” and by issuing an apology that fans have long been waiting for.

Returning to the studio for the show’s season premiere, DeGeneres apologized to those who had been negatively affected while working as part of her staff.

“As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show and then there was an investigation,” DeGeneres admitted. “I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people that were affected. I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.” The Finding Doy Star went onto explain that she claims “responsibility for what happens at my show.”

Over the summer, soon after the pandemic broke, various former and current staff members of DeGeneres’ show alleged that they had endured harassment, intimidation and racism.

In a report published by BuzzFeed, former employees claimed that the 32-time Daytime Emmy Award winner’s “be kind” persona was “all for show.” After she and various other senior staffers were accused of fostering a toxic work environment, her show’s parent company WarnerMedia issued an apology. Three of the show’s top producers also made an exit.

In response to the allegations, WarnerMedia addressed concerns at the time saying “Warner Bros. and Ellen DeGeneres take the recent allegations around the show’s workplace culture very seriously.” Soon after, in July, DeGeneres issued an email apology to her team and revealed that an internal investigation had been launched.

On Monday, the host explained that after making “the necessary changes,” she and WarnerMedia “had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, the workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.”

She went onto joke about her reputation as the “be kind” lady, and claimed that it is “a tricky position to be in.”

“Being known as the ‘be kind’ lady is a tricky position to be in,” she admitted. “So let me give you some advice out there if anybody’s thinking of changing their title or giving yourself a nickname, do not go with the ‘be kind’ lady. Don’t do it. The truth is I am that person that you see on TV.”

This Man Posts A Video Highlighting Mexican ‘Avatar The Last Airbender’ Characters And It’s So Accurate

Who here loves “Avatar The Last Airbender”? It is one show that has been around for so long that the fanbase can only grow. The show is a fantasy ride that will take you to some of the most imaginative places. However, one fan realized something no one else did: some of the characters are Mexicans. Here’s what he found.

Roku

Roku, a.k.a. “El Espiritu,” is one of the Mexicanos rocking it in the Fire Nation. Roku’s memory served as a guiding force for Aang along his long and storied journey. It is like that one compa you have who is always able to help you out of a jam. You never know how he will do it but he always does.

Sokka

You might know Sokka as the defacto leader of the Water Nation for a time. When he was younger, Sokka wanted to join his father in the war. He tried his best and left with all of the men to join the fight. However, he was too young to fight and was sent back but was the oldest male and became the leader of the tribe. Much like that primo we all have who is the oldest of the primos and teaches us everything. Where would we be without that primo?

Zuko

Zuko was born into the royal family of the Fire Nation. The prince abdicated his throne and lived in exile. For years, Zuko tried his best to catch the long-lost Avatar to get back into his kingdom. We all know that one friend that is trying to make up for something. At the end of the day, he is a good dude but he just has some things that he has to work out.

“Avatar the Last Airbender” fans are asking for more.

There are so many more people that can be made into Mexican airbenders. The first three are already a success for the TikTok user with more than 234,000 views. Fans want more and it just seems like the perfect time to create more.

And it wasn’t just the setup.

The TikTok user came through with his joke. Not only was the haircut so on point, he included a bunch of easter eggs. One of them was the América jersey that left some viewers screaming. Watch the video here and enjoy.
