Most Interesting Man In The World Replaced With Younger Dude
Will He Drink Dos Equis On Mars?
He’s what we all aspire to be. He can do it all. He does no wrong. He’s The Most Interesting Man in the World and he’s about to say good bye. Para. Siempre.
Yes, it’s the end of an era for Jonathan Goldman who played this character for Dos Equis since 2006. We won’t ever hear him say, “I don’t always drink beer. But when I do, I prefer Dos Equis” because for his final voyage, he’ll be traveling to Mars…on a one-way ticket.
For Goldman, it’s his best and most well-known role. The Most Interesting Man in the World was partially inspired by Fernando Lamas, an Argentinian actor whose accent he adopted. But, Goldman came very close to losing the part. In an interview with NPR, the actor said that his manager and now wife, Barbara, asked a very simple question when the casting director, said he wanted someone younger, “How can the most interesting man in the world be young?” That question got Goldman the part for 10 years.
According to Ad Age, Dos Equis will continue the campaign with a younger actor. The magazine added that Heineken USA, which owns the beer brand, “declined to [identify] the new star, or share details about ad plotlines, other than to say they are seeking to contemporize the campaign.”
As for The Most Interesting Man in the World, “his only regret, is not knowing what regret feels like.” #goals
