Salma Hayek started her career as telenovela star in Mexico and, from her recent appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” it’s clear she’s still got the chops for it.

Hayek teamed up with Gary Oldman, Ray Romano and host James Corden to act out a telenovela based on nothing but Justin Bieber lyrics. Sounds a little weird, right? Well, it was brilliant. Except when Romano got a little confused and started quoting One Direction lyrics. It happens, Ray.

Gah, Salma! Why you gotta spoil telenovelas for us?! On “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” Salma Hayek just gave everyone TMI on their favorite telenovela stars and shows. Newsflash: they’re not perfect and get fed every line. After playing a telenovela based on Justin Bieber lyrics with James Corden, Ray Romano and Gary Oldman, she sat down with everyone and talked about her telenovela memories of working with an apuntador – or ear piece. She says that being able to effectively use and smoothly execute your role with an apuntador is an art.

“I’ve seen people who, you know, say, ‘I love you. Please never leave me. Exit to the right,'” Hayek told the audience. “Or, ‘I hate you! I never want to see you again! I’m blocking your light.’ Or, ‘You’re blocking her light.'”

Then the whole ensemble talked about how an apuntador sounds like it could be a ride you take in Venice, Italy. Like, rather than taking a gondola, you should take apuntador, “if you have the money.”
