The Rapper Behind “Girlfriend” Talks About People Saying He’s Not Mexican Enough

Atlanta rapper Kap G, who scored a hit last year with the song “Girlfriend,” sat down with Vlad TV to talk about his relationship with Pharrell, Donald Trump becoming president and avoiding gang life in the ATL. In the above clip, the 22-year-old describes his frustration with being labeled “not Mexican enough” by some of his Latino fans. Kap G also opens up about his relationship with his parents and explains why he believes Mexican immigrants have a such strong work ethic: “They grew up with nothing. They’re taking whatever you give ’em.”
