Here’s What Happened When A Snake Hitched A Ride On A Mexican Plane
Flying is an annoying process. First comes bag checks, then security takes pictures of your privates, then you stand in long lines, waiting for your seat to get called. And finally, you climb aboard only to find that the person next to you is a crying baby or someone so hopped up on Xanax they’re using your shoulder as a pillow. However, all of those things pale in comparison to what happened on a recent Mexican flight.
It was a Hollywood B-movie for passengers of Aeromexico’s flight out of Torreon, when they found themselves aboard an actual plane with an actual snake.
According to passengers, the snake appeared to have stowed away in the overhead luggage compartment. At first no one noticed the bright green serpent, but then…
“… the passenger next to me saw [the snake] and [said], ‘Oh my word!'” passenger Indalecio Medina told the Associated Press.
“Oh my word” is an interesting reaction. Most people would been all:
Fight or flight? More like flight and flight.
Thankfully, Indalecio Medina did what any concerned citizen would do. He took out his phone and started filming.
After a few moments, the snake decided to freak everyone out by lunging towards the seats.
Nothing like a little nightmare fuel to calm your fear of flying.
The reptile hung all “Snake Du Soleil” for a few moments before falling to the ground.
You’re now free to scream across the country.
I feel bad for anyone knocked out on sleep meds during this whole ordeal, cause you know they woke up wondering what the fuss was about.
I hate to break it to you, but that’s not a neck pillow.
Once on the ground, passengers captured the snake by covering it with complimentary blankets.
As Medina told the AP, “It was a frightening situation … but people remained calm because it didn’t get out of that space and nobody became hysterical.”
The flight was diverted to Mexico City, where animal control workers took the reptile away.
Not one to shy away from publicity, Aeromexico tweeted about the incident.

And of course the internet reacted with every possible “Snakes On A Plane” meme imaginable.

I’m glad they’re having fun. Here’s the only snake I’m comfortable with on a plane.
Enjoy the full video, which Medina posted to his Twitter account.
