Former WWE Wrestler Alberto Del Rio Stabbed Before Match (GRAPHIC IMAGES)
This past weekend, former WWE wrestler Alberto Del Rio created a controversy when he failed to show up to Lucha Libre AAA WorldWide’s “Heroes Inmortales X.”
Alberto el Patrón — as he’s known in AAA WorldWide — was set to team up with Psycho Clown to take on Dr. Wagner Jr. and Pagano.
Already having a rocky history with AAA, Alberto’s no-show immediately raised the eyebrows of fans and the promotion.
When he was the champion in 2015, Alberto left AAA for the WWE without giving up his title. A no-no in the world of professional wrestling.
In spite of that snafu, AAA agreed to take back Alberto after he was released from the WWE in September of 2016.

Though people claimed Alberto was underutilized during his WWE run, he was most likely released due to violating the terms of his contract.
Quick to point the blame, AAA immediately addressed Alberto’s absence, saying, “We regret the lack of commitment of Alberto.”
Adding, “He failed the Mexican public that has supported him throughout his career.”
However, Alberto el Patrón had a great excuse: He was busy fending off a knife wielding attacker. (WARNING GRAPHIC)
Though he has a background in MMA, Alberto was unable to completely avoid injury against his attacker.
Though it was no fault of his own, Alberto el Patrón released a statement apologizing to fans and AAA for GETTING STABBED.
Using his real name – José Alberto Rodríguez – Alberto makes it clear that his dedication is not an issue.
Alberto even tweeted out some extra love to AAA.

Like a true champ, Alberto is set to make a full recovery and get back to entertaining the fans.
