Rumors of Fifth Harmony’s breakup have long been swirling and this weekend, the news many fans were dreading was finally delivered. In a rather brief statement shared on Twitter, Fifth Harmony announced that Camila Cabello will be leaving the group. Upon hearing the news, Twitter was filled with emotions.
Here is the sub-200-word announcement that was tweeted out by Fifth Harmony.
— Fifth Harmony (@FifthHarmony) December 19, 2016
After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.
You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, you’ve rejoiced and cried with us, you’ve grown with us, and with your love and support, we will continue on. That being said, we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us – Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors.
We are excited for our future, and we can’t wait for what the new year brings.
Harmonizers, we are in this together. We love you with all of our hearts.
Ally, Normani, Dinah and Lauren
A few special souls are pointing out the coldness of how Camila broke the news to the group “via her representatives.”
Lol that #FifthHarmony statement… "We have been informed by her representatives." That is COLD.

? ☕️ ?
Camila recently posted her own response to the news and it makes everything sound just a little bit shadier.

I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feeling through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was “leaving the group” is simply not true. Just like the other girls said in their statement about their plans, I had also planned to continue with my own solo endeavors in the new year but I did not intend to leave things with Fifth Harmony this way. I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group. I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness.
And it seems like some Harmonizers are feeling the same betrayal that Cabello is expressing.

Camila Cabello has been fighting against rumors of a breakup since last year.
it is our second time at the @billboard #BillboardWomenInMusic and the energy in that room is always so powerful. all of us women coming together to celebrate each other and honor each other, our idols speaking of the mountains they had to climb and the demons they had to conquer and fueling us with the inspiration that we need in times of doubt. last night we filled in for a very special woman @meghan_trainor (wishing u a speedy recovery we all missed u so much last night)… and it was an honor to be surrounded by these stories of women that go out every day into the world and ignore anybody that tells them no and that they can't do it and they follow the voice that leads them to their craziest dreams and to that room last night. Very grateful to be there.. and go girls!!! we r magical as hell

“We’re working on our second album right now. We are in the last few days recording. You’re going to be hearing new music very soon, and that’s that,” Cabello told ET at the end of last year. “Obviously any band, any group, someday is not going to be together anymore. That’s the truth. [Everybody] kind of knows it, whether you say it or not. We’re working on new music for you guys right now — just be happy!”
And the rumors were given new life this year as Cabello gave her solo projects some more attention. She recently appeared on several late night shows to promote her solo single with Machine Gun Kelly.

So, should fans start reading into Lauren Jauregui’s new single with Marian Hill, “Back To Me”? Seems like she could be the next to leave, but those rumors haven’t started yet.
Some people think the news is pretty funny.

While others are legit mourning the loss of their favorite girl group.
@FifthHarmony PLEASE TELL US THIS IS A JOKE
— 5H Colombia (@FifthHarmonyCol) December 19, 2016
Sorry, girl. Doesn’t look like this is a joke.
There is speculation that this is all a prank orchestrated by Dinah Jane.

Oh, Dinah. You and your pranks are getting out of hand.
Rumors of Fifth Harmony’s breakup have been circulating for some time, so the news didn’t surprise some people.

We have been hearing this rumor since last year. Though the members tried to tell fans it wasn’t happening, the rumors were getting stronger and stronger.
This seems to be having an impact on people who are still mourning the loss of Zayn Malik from One Direction.
@FifthHarmony NO NOT AGAIN!!!!! AFTER ZAYN!!!! AND NOW THIS?!?!??!?! FUCK!!!!
— marg (@goldenzaddy) December 19, 2016
How much sorrow can one heart take?
They have even drawn similarities between the Zayn exit and the Camila exit.
— #StillWithHer (@itzelfranco1) December 19, 2016
But, legit question, how does one get a job in writing band breakup statements?
RIP Fifth Harmony.
I just woke up and read the statement. This must be a nightmare ?#FifthHarmony

The group just won’t be the same without Camila Cabello.
