There are many reasons to love Devendra Banhart: His music is stellar. He can rock an eyeliner-and-long-beard combo better than most. And now the Venezuelan-American singer has given us yet another reason to be fans, announcing that his next Los Angeles show (which has already been sold out!) will benefit kids in Venezuela, where he spent part of his formative years:

Devendra explained exactly what prompted him to send help, especially to the young and vulnerable:
On the event page, Devendra also notes the specific purchases that will be made with the funds, including milk, antibiotics and incubators.
While he notes that “one small show might not be able to raise much,” he adds that every little bit will help. In addition, he reveals plans to eventually start a nonprofit to help those in Venezuela. Writes Devendra: “In honor of our great great great great Grandfather Francisco Antonio Risquez who was, you’ll never guess it, a doctor, we hope to eventually start a little nonprofit calledThe F.A.R Foundation.”
The show is already sold out, but you can still make a donation via Brown Paper Tickets.
