Linares, who claims he’s been playing baseball since he was 8 years old, says he’s confident he can impress the team with his skills. He told Los Angeles news station ABC 7: “If I didn’t know how great a baseball player I know I am, I wouldn’t be here trying to show off my skills to somebody.”
He says he was drawn to the Dodgers due to their history:

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, an expert on Latin American players, says there is no record of Linares playing organized baseball in Cuba. ABC 7 News reported the Dodgers had no comment on the story, adding that security for the stadium revealed Linares previously “unsuccessfully tried to get into the stadium.”
