After His Wife’s Tragic Death, a Father Recreated Pre-Wedding Pictures with His Daughter
Meet Rafael Del Col and his wife, Tatiane.
A week before their 2009 wedding, they did what many couples do. They hired a photographer and took lots and lots of photos together. The couple wanted to commemorate the beginning of a lifelong journey as husband and wife.
Three years later, they had their first child, Raisinha.
But before Raisinha’s first birthday, Tatiane died in a car accident.
Tatiane was pregnant with the couple’s second child, who also died in the accident.
After a year of grieving, Rafael decided to recreate the photo shoot with Raisinha.
The widowed father had spent more than a year trying to find a way to honor his late wife’s memory.
Rafael was inspired by Ben Nunery of Cincinnati.
Nunery recreated photos of his wedding album with his daughter after his wife died of cancer.
Raisinha got dressed up just like her mother. Here she is wearing her mom’s shoes.
She even wore the same necklace her mother wore 6 years ago.
Qué preciosa.

Raul, the family dog, was also in the photos.
“Our dog, Raul, is the same as well,” Rafael wrote in his blog. “I bought this dog for Tati in the beginning of our relationship.”
The resulting photos are a sweet and touching tribute to Tatiane.
And will no doubt be a touching memory for Raisinha and Rafael.
Wow. Amazing.
Where’s the Dad of the Year award? This dude totally deserves it.
