Chilean Grandma Makes a Living Biking Hundreds of MilesThis 90-year-old bikes 18 miles a day to sell her chicken’s eggs

She is 90 years old, and she bikes more than you.

Elena Galvez is a 90-year-old Chilean abuelita who’s melting hearts all over the world with her determination. Galvez has been making a living for herself for the last 43 years by selling her chickens’ eggs around her town of Rengo, Chile. She bikes 18 miles a day to get to town to sell her eggs. Galvez, who has been using the same bike since she first started selling eggs, considers her bike her best friend and companion.

“It’s my companion, my friend,” Galvez told Reuters. “I am nothing without her.”

We should all try to be as active and determined as this viejita.

A Chilean Police Officer Is Charged With Attempted Murder After Throwing a Protestor Off Of a Bridge

Earlier this month, a police officer in Santiago, Chile was captured on video pushing a 16-year-old male demonstrator off of a bridge. The boy fell into the canal below, fracturing his wrist and suffering head trauma. He was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The violent video sparked an additional wave of protests against the Carabineros–Chile’s militarized national police force that the officer was a part of.

Before the video surfaced, witnesses who were protesting voiced their anger at the police officer’s actions and demanded that he be brought to justice. Initially, a spokesperson for the Carabineros, General Enrique Monrás, denied any wrongdoing on the part of the officer, claiming that the boy “lost balance and fell”.

Monrás claimed the police force even had footage that refuted the purported events. But when the footage of the boy being pushed over the bridge went public, there was no question as to what happened.

The footage of the incident went viral in Chile, prompting a surge of demonstrations and protests in Santiago–a city already racked with civil unrest.

Days later, Chile opened up an investigation against the police officer, saying the officer “gave false information to the Prosecutor’s Office” and had “abandoned the victim” after throwing him off the bridge. The officer’s lawyer says he was following procedure. Nevertheless, by then the damage had been done.

Following the incident, protestors threw red die into the canal, making it look like it was running red with the metaphorical blood of protestors. The protests are part of an ongoing civil unrest that was sparked by economic inequality in Chile as well as President Sebastián Piñera’s failure to address the people’s concerns.

To make matters worse, the Piñera government has responded to the protests with excessive violence.

In the last year, Chile has been making headlines for permanently blinding protestors with rubber bullets. Protestors claim that Caballeros are deliberately shooting people in the eyes, aiming to blind them for life.

This most recent incident has simply served to bolster the protestors’ claims that they are being treated brutally by the Chilean government. “The police are violent. We can’t bear it anymore,” said a protestor named Carmen Soria to Al Jazeera News. “They’ve raped, tortured, run people over, blinded others, and now, they’re throwing people in the Mapocho river. The government doesn’t want us to protest, doesn’t want us to gather together, but they don’t care that we gather in the busses and in subways like sardines to go to work.”

Netflix has a good eye in finding and showcasing some incredible talent in Latin America. The streaming giant produces shows like “La Casa de las Flores” and “Siempre Bruja.” “Élite” is another Spanish-language show produced for Netflix and one of the newest members in Chilean heartthrob Jorge López. Let’s take a moment to appreciate López.

Chilean actor Jorge López is one star that is one the rise.

The 28-year-old is one of the actors in Netflix’s “Élite.” The drama is about three well-to-do teenagers living in Spain and the usual telenovela drama and situations ensue.

López plays Valerio Montesinos Hendrich for Netflix’s “Élite.”

Valerio is the brother of Luceria Montesinos Hendrich, played by Danna Paola. His addition to the show just shows the growing role of Latin American talent in Netflix productions. The show was produced in Spain and is currently in its third season.

López got his first big break thanks to Disney Channel Latin America.

López was cast as a main character on the Disney Channel Latin America telenovela “Soy Luna” in 2016. Over the course of two years, López was in 220 episodes of “Soy Luna.” We got to see López show off his singing and dancing chops while in “Soy Luna” and it further solidified his future in the entertainment business.

Now, let’s just take a moment to appreciate the man behind the characters.

Everyone tries to do the cool, almost candid pool shot with the shirt ever so carelessly opened. It is fair to say that López delivered on this look. He was able to hit the pose just right and we are all better for having this pop up on social media.

You’ve gotta appreciate a man who can accessorize his outfit without going overboard.

Legit, where do we get that fan? It just seems like one of those things that we need in our repertoire. Fans are super in and there is nothing wrong with wanting to jump on a bandwagon, especially if it is fashion. Right?

The actor is stunning even when he is rocking an overload of fake tattoos.

Of course, the tattoos are the first things you will notice in this photo are all of the tattoos. But we have some questions. What is going on with the fak blood from the ear? What is this for? That nail polish, however, is *chef’s kiss*.

People who can embrace their less than gorgeous side are truly beautiful creatures.

Being goofy is just as sexy as looking sexy. López is a great example of what that kind of effortless sexy looks like. It is about confidence and it is obvious that this man is just dripping with confidence, as he should. Just look at him.

Thank you, Netflix. We appreciate being able to get to know López a little more.
