Puerto Rico is still reeling after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island last month. People have publicly begged President Trump to deliver the aid necessary to help relief efforts. He responded with a short visit, where he threw paper towels into a crowd of people. Celebrities have been taking it upon themselves to get necessary aid to Puerto Rico, including Pitbull and Real Housewife Of New York Bethenny Frankel. Now, chefs and mixologists in Los Angeles are coming together for a week-long fundraising effort called LA Loves PR centered around food inspired by the Caribbean island.

Angelenos will have a chance to donate money to Puerto Rico while dining and sipping on some of the best food and drink in the city.

LA Loves PR has teamed up with Unidos Por Puerto Rico and more than 100 chefs and mixologists to raise money for Puerto Rican hurricane relief. According to the LA Loves PR website, more than 80 restaurants and bars will offer special menu items, with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to Unidos Por Puerto Rico, an initiative created by First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, to provide support and aid to those impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

LA Loves PR happens Oct. 7-14. The week-long event is bringing an edible tour of Puerto Rico straight to Los Angeles.

“Many of us in the restaurant, bar and hotel industry have sought inspiration and solace in Puerto Rico’s jeweled beaches, emerald rainforests and warm people,” reads the LA Loves PR website. “We place our memories on our plates and in our glasses, as tribute to this important sisterland that we will not leave behind.”

Chefs are sharing their mouthwatering creations on social media to get the word out, and the photos look incredible. From delicious canoitas…

To a pork pernil, yuca escabeche, mint mojo sandwich.
