Give Your Thanksgiving A Little Something Special With These Easy Latino Recipes

Friendsgiving is on its way, and that can only mean one thing: time to dust off your oven mitts and get to cooking. It’s that special time of year when you and your closest friends will get together and bring food that is somehow connected to your life and upbringing. In the spirit of Friendsgiving, here is a list of Latino dishes you might consider bringing to the potluck this year.

1. Queso Frito

This is fried cheese. Is anyone going to pass up some fried cheese? Didn’t think so. ?

2. Alcapurrias

Make sure you give yourself enough time to cook this delicious treat. You have a dough and filling to make, so don’t rush it. One thing is for sure, though. If you nail this recipe, you will definitely be a hit at the Friendsgiving celebration.

3. Yuca Frita

Yuca is a nice, hearty root that can be fried, broiled, or boiled depending on what you are looking for. It is the same root used to create alcapurria dough so it’s versatile. It is also delicious when paired with a little bit of garlic in olive oil.

4. Llapingacho

This dish is something that will definitely catch the party’s attention. It’s a simple recipe that consists of mashed potatoes and cheese sautéed like a pancake. Is someone drooling here or is that rain?

5. Arroz Chaufa

This Peruvian stir fry is more than just a dish, it’s a history lesson. Who knew that a side dish could educate people on Chinese influences on Peruvian cuisine?

6. Tequeños

How can anyone go wrong with Venezuelan cheese sticks? Take the cheese, wrap it in the dough, fry or bake, and boom. You got yourself another tasty cheesy option.

Como não amar uma vasilha cheia de pão de queijo😍? . Essa receita é muito fácil até o meu marido consegue fazer (corre para ver os stories para ver e rir um pouco com a gente 😂) . Segue a receita para vocês fazerem para o domingão. Ainda dá tempo! . 🧀[Pão de Queijo]🧀 ▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫ INGREDIENTES 1 xíc de leite 1/2 xíc. de óleo (gosto de usar de canola, milho ou girassol) 3 ovos (colocar um a um até dar ponto de enrolar) – usamos só 2 3 xícaras de polvilho doce 200g de queijo Minas padrão ou meia cura ralado Sal a gosto (vai depender da quantidade de sal do queijo) ▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫▫ PREPARO Coloque o polvilho com uma pitada de sal em um bowl e reserve. Leve para ferver o leite com o óleo. Despeje sobre o polvilho e mexa com uma colher (irão formar grumos – é normal). . Espere esfriar um pouco (para conseguir amassar com as mãos). Junte os ovos um a um e amasse com as mãos. Acrescente o queijo e amasse até incorporar e formar uma massa homogênea. . ATENÇÃO : talvez não precise dos 3 ovos. Lave as mãos. Passe um pouco de óleo e faça bolinhas com a massa. Asse em forno preaquecido por uns 40 minutos. Você também pode congelar antes de assar. Após fazer as bolinhas leve ao freezer em uma assadeira ou prato e após congelar transfira para saquinhos. Quando for utilizar é só retirar do freezer e assar em forno preaquecido. . ⚠ sempre quebreos ovos um a um em um pote separado. Caso algum ovo esteja podre não estraga o restante da receita e não desperdiça os ingredientes. 😉 ⚠SEMPRE forno preaquecido. Para evitar que seu pão de queijo fique duro. ⚠ Se você quiser pode fazer um mix de queijos. Por exemplo: metade Minas padrão, metade parmesão (aquele que a gente rala na hora. Saquinho, NÃO!). O sabor será um pouco mais intenso. (Eu ❤) . If you are looking to bring a touch of your Latinidad to the Friendsgiving dinner table, you should definitely peep this recipe. You can add your favorite meat, spices, and herbs to really make it your own.

9. Pastelitos De Carne

For the person who can never have enough meat and bread, these are a perfect addition to the table. Plus, it appears you can totally make them vegan if you are into that sort of thing.

10. Bacalaítos

These codfish fritters might seem odd at first but they are definitely worth your time. It requires some time and patience since you have to cook the fish before adding it to the batter but it will certainly make mouths water.

11. Chiles Rellenos

This is great for the person who doesn’t want to do too much work but wants everyone to have a personalized experience with their meal. Everyone gets their own pepper and you rarely have to take any leftovers home. It’s a real win/win.
