This Clip Of Gamora Speaking Spanish On The Set Of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Would Have Made For A Better Twist

“Avengers: Endgame” actress and Latina powerhouse Zoe Saldana posted a video on her Instagram page of herself decked-out in full costume for her MCU character, Gamora. In the video, Saldana sips on an unknown beverage before launching into a little ditty: “Aquí con mi matecito, en el set de Avengers.” She then stops and looks at the camera with feigned surprise and says, “Gamora speaks Spanish? No lo sabía”.

She captioned the video: “What! Espanol…GAMORA?!?”

The video quickly garnered a lot of attention, racking up almost 6 million views and over 33,000 comments. The comment section filled up with Latino fans expressing their joy at seeing one of their favorite Marvel characters speaking their language. Even fellow “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor, Vin Diesel, took to the comments to express his approval, commenting “No lo sabia!?! Hahaha. Love”.

It’s not often that the Latinx community sees a celebrity in one of the most massive and successful franchises in history repping their Latinx identity with such pride.

It’s also noteworthy that Saldana was mentioned that she was drinking matecito or mate in her Insta post, a caffeine-rich drink that is popular in South America, especially in Argentina. So, in general, Saldana is giving off all the Latinx vibes in this social media post.

Saldana has been candid before about how she gravitates towards sci-fi roles because they put less emphasis on the color of her skin–which she believes is secondary to who she is as a person.

“If I only went after Latina roles or roles of women of color then I’m not really exercising my desire to be an artist full-heartedly and whole-heartedly,” she told A Plus online. “The purpose of being an actor is to be a chameleon where you get to play different things. When the roles provided for me on Earth are limited, then space felt like the right place to go.”

As for Latinx Twitter, they couldn’t get enough of Gamora speaking Spanish.

Like we said, the rarity of an occasion like this is cause for celebration.

This super-fan felt the need to shout the news from the rooftops.

We can’t blame him for showing his excitement.

This Latina felt the effect of Saldana’s charisma in full-swing.

So many Latinas were discussing with their girlfriends how Saldana has made them have a girl crush that they didn’t even know they were capable of.

This girl was super excited that her favorite drink was finally getting the attention it deserved.

In South America, the cult of mate is real.

And this Latina gave Saldana a nickname that we’ll be using from this point forward:

Facts.

We’re so happy that Zoe Saldana, as Latina in Hollywood, has experienced so much success in both her “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Avengers” franchises! We can’t wait to see what’s next for her–we know she’ll slay no matter what.

This year’s Golden Globes awards were a complete letdown for a variety of reasons. Aside from the typical #SoWhite nonsense and long speeches, people were astonished at the lack of Latinas on the red carpet. We counted four: Jennifer Lopez, Ana de Armas, Sofia Vergara, and Salma Hayek. Depressing right? We know there are more Latinas in Hollywood, but where are they? At least one of the most recognized Latina actresses is explaining why she hasn’t acted in years.

A fan recently asked Eva Mendes on Instagram when she’ll be in a new movie. Mendes responded by saying she won’t settle for any project partly because of her daughters.

On Jan. 7, Mendes responded to a fan on Instagram when she asked her,  “When the fans going to see u in some new movies?” Mendes told her kindly that she isn’t offered roles that are good enough for her.

“Hi! When there’s something worthwhile to be a part of,” she wrote on Instagram. “As a mother now, there are many roles I won’t do. There are many subject matters that I don’t want to be involved with, so it limits my choices, and I’m fine with that. I have to set an example for my girls now. But no worry, I got some side hustles. Ha! Thanks for asking. All the best for 2020.”

Mendes’s most recent role was the 2014 film Lost River directed and written by her baby daddy, Ryan Gosling. Things certainly changed for Mendes when she met Gosling in 2011.

The two first met while filming the 2012 movie, “The Place Beyond the Pines.” There was no denying the chemistry between the two in “The Place Beyond the Pines.” It was an extraordinary film about a Luke (Gosling) who doubles as a bank robber and motorcyclist. He meets Romina (Mendes), the two fall in love, and have a baby. Domestic life isn’t for Luke, and he cannot escape his crime-ridden life. We won’t give any spoilers, but it truly felt like we were witnessing a real-life love story.

Mendes is now the mother of two girls and has gone on to launch her fashion collection with New York & Company and has been busy with that for several years now.

While Mendes continues to lead a pretty private life with Gosling and her daughters, her fashion collection has been successful. She has also said that her partner has been very encouraging and proud of her work as a designer.

“Ryan is incredibly supportive, and he’s always in awe,” Mendes told People magazine last year. “He makes me realize that [making the collection] is actually a lot of work. I have so much fun doing it that I don’t really realize.”

She also added that her in-laws and her family are extremely helpful to her as she develops each collection.

“Ryan’s mom, Ryan’s sister, my mom, my sisters, my grandma are all my fashion guinea pigs,” Mendes told the magazine. “Nobody is going to be more honest than family, and our family is very honest. It’s something I really appreciate because when designing something, you need real feedback.”

Yet, still, with her success as a fashion designer, we cannot help miss Mendes as an actor. Remember her in “Training Day”?

Her role as Sara opposite Denzel Washington was so intense and incredibly raw. We can see why she would hesitate to be in certain kinds of characters, especially if the part calls for nudity or vulgar language. The role of Sara is also one that we have seen often, which is the stereotypical Latina as a single mother, living in the projects. That has been played out. That movie, however, was how we first learned of Mendes.

She stretched her comedy chops in “The Other Guys” in 2010 alongside Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell.

That movie was hilarious, and she was amusing as the wife of Will Ferrell. Then again, that role was of a sexy (but smart) Latina who could whip of a home-cooked meal and be stunning all at the same time. Mendes can play the ultimate woman because she is a lot of ways. However, we understand she wants to break away from that notion that all Latinas are curvy, sexy, and feisty.

Her Instagram is always active, so it makes us feel like Mendes hasn’t gone anywhere.

But we still miss you on the big screen, Eva. Come back!!

Gwyneth Paltrow Dropped A ‘Vagina’ Scented Candle—Apparently Her Eau De Vagine Smells Like Bergamot And Geranium

gwynethpaltrow / Twitter

Professional actress-turned-businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow released an already sold out candlelast Friday, playfully named “This Smells Like My Vagina”. While it’s nice to see lady parts getting good press, we have a few questions about the $75 candle —the main one being “why though?”

Gwyneth Paltrow has made a strong business out of her vagina.

The actress-turned-wellness-guru —through her platform Goop – introduced us to the concept of vaginal steaming, jade vaginal eggs and, of course, the elusive sex dust moon juice. Now, to start 2020 on a high vaginal note, we have the vagina candle, which has already sold-out, prompting a waitlist.

The $75 item contains traditional perfume elements “to put us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth,” the product copy reads.

The notes of the candle include geranium, citrusy bergamot, cedar, Damask rose, and ambrette seed. The blend is meant to amount to the aroma of the actress’ very rich and powerful vag. Additionally, Goop describes it as “a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent.”

We’re not sure if the name is meant to be a joke, or if the candle actually smells like lady parts

According to a previous Goop description, the provocative name came from a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and Paltrow. The two were testing a fragrance one day when she declared, “Uhhh, this smells like a vagina.” The bouquet evolved into a “funny, gorgeous, sexyand beautifully unexpected scent.”

Let us not forget that Paltrow’s vagina products have landed the businesswoman in hot water before

In September 2019, Goop paid a $145,000 settlement in a lawsuit over vaginal eggs. The website had made unproven claims that the Jade Egg and the Rose Quartz Egg, could “balance hormones, regulate menstrual cycles, prevent uterine prolapse, and increase bladder control,” said the Orange County District Attorney’s office in California. Not so, said the California Food, Drug and Medical Device Task Force, who argued that Goop’s assertion wasn’t based on scientific evidence.

Like many other products sold on Goop’s website, the 10.5-ounce hooha-inspired candle is relatively overpriced, ringing up at $75.

But alas, that hasn’t stopped a flurry of curious online shoppers from snagging one in hopes of gleaning feelings of “fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth,” as the product description promises.

Unsurprisingly, the internet nearly broke when the news about this candle broke. Keep reading for some of Twitter’s funniest reactions.

You all need a time-out indeed.

The future is now, folks

Who would’ve thought this would be what 2020 had in store for us.

Jenny here, sure knows how to crack a vajayjay joke

Ouch…burrrn

And then, ‘The Rock’ got involved —yup, you read that right.

Given that this is evidently the nature of the times we’re living in, whether we like it or not, comedian Adam Ray suggested on Instagram that The Yankee Candle Company should get in on the action by selling candles that smell of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson‘s balls.

Responding to the post, the wrestler-turned-actor joked that he had tried to create such a product in the past, but it hadn’t quite gone to plan.

He wrote: “Brother I tried to make those candles but I kept burning my balls. So I moved on to shampoo.” Now there’s an image for us all to enjoy. He also added the hashtag ‘#scentofsac’, which I think really adds a certain something to the story.

The candle is a collaboration with Heretic, a perfume company that has revolutionised fragrance with their chemical-free, androgynous products.

“We sit on the floor and geek out on fragrance,” Paltrow shared of the collaboration.

‘This Smells Like my Vagina’ is a nice little pre-game for the absurdity that is coming.

Surely, the viral and much-talked-about candle has something to do with Gwyneth’s new Netflix docu-series, The Goop Lab. The show will delve deep into the actresses surreal world of yoni eggs and unorthodox wellness practices. Set to premiere on Netflix on January 24th, we can’t help to suspect whether or not this candle is a great marketing stunt to create a buzz around Gwen’s brand.

As a self-confessed Goop tragic, I think that everything that the website, and Gwyneth does is a comedy goldmine. You could lock all the SNL alumni in a room and they’d never come up with things as bone-shatteringly funny as the Goop shop and newsletters, case in point, this title; ‘Inbox sage for the digital age.’ —no joke. I hope that Gwyneth never stops. I hope that she keeps promoting crazy health teas and rose quartz dildos until her final days.
