Demi Lovato Just Became The Latest Celebrity To Get A Neck Tattoo

Remaining in a positive space isn’t easy to do. Getting there is even tougher. But somewhere in the middle, between self-awareness and accomplishment, is a sweet spot that deserves to be acknowledged. Keeping your head above water, living through the challenges is surviving, and that is everything.

Demi Lovato got a new remarkable tattoo that solidifies everything she has been through in her life thus far.

Doctor Woo, a sought after tattoo artist, inked Lovato with a new tattoo that says “survivor”. It is prominently placed on her neck. The original ink isn’t just body art, but a word that marks all the challenges and struggles she’s has to endure most of her life. From being bullied as a child to being in and out of rehab for substance abuse, and also battling issues with her self image.

Last month, the singer spoke candidly — as she has always done — about her recent life issues and how she’s been coping with them.

“I think it’s been a very introspective year for me. I’ve learned a lot, been through a lot,” Demi said at the Teen Vogue Summit. “We hear the term body positivity all the time. To be honest, I don’t always feel positive about my body. Sometimes I do not like what I see. I don’t sit there and dwell on it. I also don’t lie to myself.” She added, “I used to look in the mirror if I was having a bad body image day and say ‘I love my body, you’re beautifully and wonderfully made.’ But I didn’t believe it. I don’t have to lie to myself and tell myself I have an amazing body. All I have to say is ‘I’m healthy.’ In that statement, I express gratitude. I am grateful for my strength and things I can do with my body. I am saying I’m healthy, and I accept the way my body is today without changing anything.”

While the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer hasn’t publically commented about her new tattoo, she sort of did open up about her new relationship.

Lovato has made it no secret that she is looking for love. This past year she’s dated plenty of cute guys, including the “Bachelor” star Mike Johnson and fashion designer Henry Levy. According to sources, family and friends did not approve of that relationship because it was around the time when she was in and out of rehab.

“Demi knows she will be battling her struggles for a very long time and wants to take precautionary measures when she feels the need to check in on her health,” a source told E! News. “She never wants to get to a place where she was last year when she relapsed. Demi and Henry decided to split because none of her family members approved of her getting into a relationship so quickly and wanted her to focus on herself and her health. Demi felt distracted and overwhelmed and wanted to take a breather and truly get healthy.”

She survived that relationship and seemed to be in a healthier one with model Austin Wilson who is also very much into getting tattoos.

The couple made it Instagram official by posting images of each other on their respective Instagram pages. Lovato posted a picture of the two and only wrote “My <3” Austin, on the other hand, posted an image that was a bit more assertive. “My girlfriend is hot AF.”

Lovato is not a stranger to getting inked. The 27-year-old has a slew of other tattoos that speak to her mantras that inspire her to push forward.

She also has the words “stay” and “strong” on her wrists and also “now I’m a warrior” on her back and “me” on her finger. While some people post notes of encouragement around their homes, Lovato takes those much-needed words with her, literally.

Earlier this year, Lovato also tattooed a picture of her grandmother, who passed away in 2016. The two were extremely close. That tattoo was also inked by Doctor Woo.

“This is for you, Mimaw,” she posted on Instagram. “You at 26 on my arm while I’m 26, and forever. I love you more. ❤️ Thank you @_dr_woo_, for making her come back to life for me.. it’s stunning and the most meaningful tattoo I have ever gotten.”

We can undoubtedly say her new “survivor” tattoo won’t be her last. But what is coming next from Lovato is definitely new music, and we cannot wait to hear her unique sound. Her latest Instagram post, Lovato left us eagerly by saying, “The next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing….”
