Camila Cabello Will Be Making Her Acting Debut In The New Cinderella Movie

Latinas can be princesses too. That’s the message that audiences are sending Disney after decades of zero representation. Now we’re seeing Latina characters in animated shows and films such as “Elena of Avalor” and the new movie that Lin-Manuel Miranda is currently working on. But what about a Latina princess in the flesh? We’re finally getting that too!

It’s been announced that singer Camila Cabello will star as Cinderella, a new feature film.

The new movie won’t stray too much from the original Disney animated film (released in 1950). However, details surrounding the plot is undisclosed for now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Cinderella movie will still include the protagonist as an orphaned young woman who is forced to live with her stepmother.

The publication is also reporting that the new movie will be a musical too, and we’re thrilled about that. How could we have a Cinderella movie without any singing especially if a real singer plays the lead role?

It’s also interesting that a new Cinderella film is underway because Disney released a feature film on Cinderella just a couple of years ago. That 2015 movie starred Lily James, but we can see why there’s a new one in the works — the new Cinderella has some influential backers.

James Corden conceived this new Cinderella version.

The late show host is producing the movie with his production company Fulwell73, along with his partner Leo Pearlman. We also love that Kay Cannon will be working on this movie. She’s directed “Blockers” and written “Pitch Perfect” along with other movies, including written for one of our favorite Latino shows, “Cristela.”

The 22-year-old Cuban star has yet to comment about this incredible news. But she did post this picture on her Insta-story.

Yes, we’re still catching our breathe too, girl.

Fans of Cabello are already here for the singer’s big screen moment

YES CAN’T WAIT FOR THE CINDERELLA THEMED PARTIES. THERE BETTER BE SALSA.

Literally they are freaking out.

The ball scene better have a big ol’ salsa.

People Who Worked On ‘Toy Story 4’ Hinted At Bonnie’s Dad Being Latino

toystory / Instagram

Toy Story 4, the long-awaited fourth film of the Toy Story franchise, hit theaters this June and we were reunited with favorites like Woody and Buzz Lightyear. We also became acquainted with a few new faces, while coming to the realization that an animated movie can still make us ugly cry.

Between meeting Forky, Gabby Gabby, Ducky and Bunny, and Duke Caboom (hey, Keanu!), Toy Story 4 introduced us to a plethora of new characters. We even met Bo Peep again, whom you might remember has been MIA for a bit. And she comes back in this fourth installment as a whole new badass Bo Peep!

There was one character in particular who stood out among the rest: Bonnie’s dad.

If you recall, Bonnie is the toddler in Toy Story 3 who Andy gives away all his toys to, including his beloved Woody, before he heads off to college.

With his dark hair and caramel-like complexion, Bonnie’s dad clearly looked ethnically ambiguous. We wondered what he could be and thus it raised the question, could Bonnie’s dad be Latino? He reminded us of some of our dads, tios, primos, and friends. Even when we first saw Bonnie Anderson in Toy Story 3, we knew there was something different about her. She also had ambiguous features and didn’t quite look like the standard white character we were so used to seeing in Toy Story‘s past — or many cartoon films for that matter. But at that time, we had only seen her mom.

Bonnie’s dad is actually voiced by Mexican-American actor Jay Hernandez — who revealed in several interviews discussing Toy Story 4 that he has always been a fan of the franchise and dreamed of one day voicing a character for a Disney-Pixar movie — so if we needed any clues this one is certainly it. While on the red carpet of the Toy Story 4 world premiere, Hernandez revealed that the film’s creative team even began adding touches to Bonnie’s dad that were true to him. “I went to the session wearing Converse Chuck Taylors… certain kinds of shoes, and they added that to my character, which wasn’t originally there,” the Magnum P.I. actor said. “So I thought it was sort of an homage to me, it was cool.”

In a recent interview with Remezcla, Pixar producer Jonas Rivera, who also happens to be Mexican-American, noted that our assumptions about Bonnie’s dad possibly being Latino could indeed be right.

“We never named him; he’s just Bonnie’s Dad. But in my mind, and since I know him well I feel I can speak for Albert [Lozano], the character is a reflection of our families. Albert’s dad is Mexican American like my dad is. That’s how we see dads,” Rivera said. He noted that growing up in a home with a Mexican father and mother of English Canadian descent also inspired the design of Bonnie’s parents. “We thought Bonnie’s dad would be closer to that model of a family. I know a lot of families that way in California,” he explained.

“When we made Toy Story 3, all my family thought she was based on my sister Raquel because she looked liked her when she was really little, and now in [Toy Story 4], Bonnie sort of looks like my niece Carly.”

The question then remains, was the casting of Jay Hernandez to voice the character of Bonnie’s dad therefore intentional?

Maybe not quite, but Rivera explained that Jay just embodied what they were searching for in Bonnie’s dad perfectly.

“As a parent of three, the character is easy to relate to. He is the dad that’s always a little behind everything, and Jay was able to bring that in a truthful way,” Rivera told Remezcla. “To be totally honest with you, it wasn’t like, ‘Let’s find a Latino actor;’ it was more like, ‘Let’s find the right guy,’ but when I saw who it was with [director] Josh Cooley and [producer] Mark Nielsen, that was a bonus for me. I thought it’d be great if we could also have more diversity.”

He continued, “We make animated films about toys, monsters, and superheroes, but really we want them to be relatable to everybody and one of the ways you do that is if your films are diverse, not only the characters in the films but the people making them.”

Fans are loving the diversity the movie is bringing to the Toy Story universe.

The film did relatively well on having more diversity in its lineup of actors, adding the voices of those like Hernandez, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, and Ally Maki. Toy Story 4 also showcased a lesbian couple dropping off and picking up their daughter from daycare. And the lost little girl we see at the carnival, who Gabby Gabby tries to console and ultimately winds up being able to claim as her own kid, is Black.

Toy Story 4 picks up right where Toy Story 3 left off, but not before momentarily taking us back in time to tell fans what happened to Bo Peep and her sheep. The Disney-Pixar picture dives deeper into Bonnie’s world as she heads off for Kindergarten orientation and shows us once again just how far Woody will go for his kid. Woody, Forky, Buzz and the rest of the gang wind up on an epic adventure after Bonnie’s dad declares they’re going on an end-of-summer road trip.

The family’s road trip places Woody on an unexpected journey through an antique store, with little Forky (who becomes almost like Woody’s child) in tow. And even Bonnie’s dad runs into some serious bumps along the way to their destination. Oh, and if you were still doubting that he could be Latino, just wait to see his reactions to a lot of the challenges he faces.

The Internet Has Figured Out The #DisneylandFight Story And It Is A Doozy

Inman Entertainment / YouTube

In case you missed it, there was a full out, nearly five-minute brawl at Disneyland on Sunday, and it was all captured on video. In the brutal video, we mostly see a man in a red shirt throwing punches at several different women and men. The actions are hard to watch, but the startling scene has the Internet obsessed. The brawl broke out right in front of Goofy’s Playhouse in Toontown, and the original video clip now has over 3 million views. Everyone in the brawl is assumed to be part of the same family.

If you’ve seen the video, you’ve probably only had the emotional bandwidth to ask this question.

Someone insulted someone’s mother, another mother was thrown to the ground, and it seems like everyone is just going at each other, regardless of gender or relation. It was a sad scene to

The narrative of the story is that they are related, hence the fact that they stayed together despite the fighting.

It doesn’t seem like it’s two separate families defending their own. They seem to be related to each other, which makes the fight exceptionally sad.

The Internet has provided a flow chart.

None of this is confirmed by the family or authorities. We’re all in this together. From here on out, the term “we” will be used to describe the collective Internet “we.” We think White Shirt girl, Red Shirt and Black Shirt Girl are all siblings. Their mom is the Mama in the wheelchair.

White Shirt Girl dissed Red Shirt Guy’s girlfriend (Tan Shirt Girl).

Red Shirt Guy clearly has the biggest temper of them all, and resorted to physically attacking (what we think is) his sister. Her boyfriend (White Shirt Guy) stepped in to defend her. Then they start dancing around like they’re in a boxing ring. Black Shirt girl tries to intervene to get them to stop fighting. Then White Shirt guy just punches Tan Shirt Girl (Red Shirt’s girlfriend) straight in the nose. Now it’s really getting heated between Red Shirt Guy and White Shirt Guy.

While trying to intervene, Mama gets knocked down in the fight.

Now Red Shirt Guy is yelling, “I’m ready to go to jail tonight. I’m ready to go to jail.” Then Red Shirt Guy sees White Shirt Guy and starts yelling “fired on my motherf***ing b****, put your hands around my b****!” White Shirt Guy starts retreating, but Red Shirt Guy pulls White Shirt Guy’s girlfriend (also wearing a white shirt) by her hair.

Things start to calm down until Black Shirt Girl tells Red Shirt Guy that his girlfriend (Tan Shirt Girl) hit his Mama.

He turns to his girlfriend saying, “You hit my mama?” Tan shirt tries to explain that it was an accident (it was), but he punches her straight in the face. Then he starts violently pounding on her on the ground while a group of people tries to lift him off her. He pulls her hair along with him. Red Shirt Guy is finally restrained in a chokehold, and then the security finally shows up.

This whole time, the only Disney employee intervening is an older custodian.

Our hearts dropped for fear this older man would be violently attacked but he thankfully wasn’t. There are memes on memes of other Disney employees in costume just standing around.

Other folks are getting philosophical about the many bystanders who did nothing.

Magic Mountain is side-eyeing this whole brawl so hard right now.

Meanwhile, Universal fans are taking the moment to show appreciation for their theme park of choice.

For all the shade amusement park goers throw at each other, we still don’t understand how this mega fight happened in Toontown.

This one media outlet’s narration has truly tickled The Internet.

This reporter describes the fight with vivid detail. Rewatching the fight with narration that sounds like “but then, he slapped the daylights out of her,” is truly rewarding if you’re into that kind of thing.

The family maintains it never happened.

The family was all released once they all told park authorities that the fight never happened. Once the video footage came out, however, their questionable loyalty didn’t matter.  Orange County prosecutors are currently reviewing the video to determine whether criminal charges will be filed. If they decide to file felony charges, the county district attorney’s office will also assess misdemeanor counts. If they don’t find any grounds for felony charges, the Anaheim city attorney would take over to pursue misdemeanor charges.

You can watch the fight below.
