Camila Cabello Will Be Making Her Acting Debut In The New Cinderella Movie

Latinas can be princesses too. That’s the message that audiences are sending Disney after decades of zero representation. Now we’re seeing Latina characters in animated shows and films such as “Elena of Avalor” and the new movie that Lin-Manuel Miranda is currently working on. But what about a Latina princess in the flesh? We’re finally getting that too!

It’s been announced that singer Camila Cabello will star as Cinderella, a new feature film.

The new movie won’t stray too much from the original Disney animated film (released in 1950). However, details surrounding the plot is undisclosed for now. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Cinderella movie will still include the protagonist as an orphaned young woman who is forced to live with her stepmother.

The publication is also reporting that the new movie will be a musical too, and we’re thrilled about that. How could we have a Cinderella movie without any singing especially if a real singer plays the lead role?

It’s also interesting that a new Cinderella film is underway because Disney released a feature film on Cinderella just a couple of years ago. That 2015 movie starred Lily James, but we can see why there’s a new one in the works — the new Cinderella has some influential backers.

James Corden conceived this new Cinderella version.

The late show host is producing the movie with his production company Fulwell73, along with his partner Leo Pearlman. We also love that Kay Cannon will be working on this movie. She’s directed “Blockers” and written “Pitch Perfect” along with other movies, including written for one of our favorite Latino shows, “Cristela.”

The 22-year-old Cuban star has yet to comment about this incredible news. But she did post this picture on her Insta-story.

Yes, we’re still catching our breathe too, girl.

Fans of Cabello are already here for the singer’s big screen moment

YES CAN’T WAIT FOR THE CINDERELLA THEMED PARTIES. THERE BETTER BE SALSA.

Literally they are freaking out.

The ball scene better have a big ol’ salsa.

Get Ready To Bring Disney-Level Magic To Your Wedding

Inside Edition / Youtube

Most likely, your first brushes with wedding planning began with Disney movies. Long before the age of Pinterest, you also likely used the gowns worn by Ariel and Cinderella for your inspo. Welp, your wedding plans just got leveled up thanks to a new plan by Disney and it involves a whole heck of a lot of white lace and magic.

Over the weekend, the company behind some of the most romantic weddings in movie history announced they’re getting into the bridal business.

Pairing up with Allure Bridal, Disney is set to launch Disney Fairy Tale Weddings collection.

The collection is set to feature 16 different designs. All of which will be inspired by your favorite Disney princesses. Yep, including Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Tiana, and Snow White.

If you didn’t already guess, Ariel’s gown is 100% mermaid-style.

In a statement to the brand’s homepage, Allure’s CEO called the new line “inspired.”

“So many brides grow up admiring their favorite Disney Princess characters and are inspired by their journeys, gowns and stories of the classic films,” Kelly Crum, Allure’s CEO announced in a statement shared on the brand’s website.

In a separate post of their own, Disney shared sketches of the designs for beloved princesses Ariel, Belle and Princess Tiana’s dresses.

According to the Allure announcement, the Disney-inspired wedding gown collection will be available sometime after April. Allure also plans to unveil the entire collection during New York Bridal Fashion Week. The brand plans to sell seven of the 16 gowns through Kleinfeld Bridal in New York and Toronto exclusively as part of the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Platinum Collection. For this line, dresses will be priced between $3,500 to $10,000. For the other dresses included in the collection, prices will range from $1,200 to $2,500 and will be available at select boutique stores across the country.

So it’s official, there will be quite a bit more Disney Latina princesses in the world!

A Look Back At ‘The Proud Family’ And Everything We Loved About The Show

The Proud Family / Disney

Disney Channel had an iconic moment during the 1990s and early 2000s. The channel gave use Disney Original Movies that we still remember to this day. Not to mention, the network was pumping out some of the best TV shows animated and live-action. One of those shows that will always be in our mind is “The Proud Family.”

Let’s start with singing along to one of the most iconic theme songs of TV history.

Brought to you by none other than Solange and Destiny’s Child, “The Proud Family” theme song is something you will never forget. Be honest. As soon as this song started playing, all of the words have come flooding back to you and you’re singing along.

This show brought Black culture to the Disney audience like never before.

There is a reason that people are so connected to the show. It was fun, authentic, and delivered by the best cast imaginable.

Of course, so many of us clung to the Afro-Latino Boulevardez family.

LaCienega Boulevardez was one of Penny’s closest friends and her neighbor. Her parents, Felix and Sunset Boulevardez, along with her abuelo Papi, were always involved with the shenanigans with the Proud family one way or the other. It was a moment in time when we were able to see an Afro-Latino family represented like every other family but with two cultures instead of one.

And it wasn’t until we were older that we got the joke about their names.

La Cienega and Sunset boulevards are major roads in Los Angeles and La Cienega deadends into Sunset in West Hollywood. That’s right. The daughter and mother from the Boulevardez family are named after two major LA roads.

The “All That” cast member is the woman behind the iconic Disney cartoon character. Since the show, Reyes has continued acting and has become a musician. If you want to check out her music, you can check out her video for her single “Sexy Hot” here.

Sunset Boulevardez was voiced by Maria Canals-Barrera.

Before “The Wizards of Waverly Place,” Canals-Barrera was Sunset Boulevardez. Honestly, one of the most iconic Disney moms ever.

Who else knew that Carlos Mencia was the voice behind Felix Boulevardez.

Now that I listen to it, I can definitely hear it. It wasn’t long after the start of “The Proud Family” that Mencia’s career really took off.

LaCienega Boulevardez holds a very important place in television history, even if she had big feet.

It was one of the first times young Afro-Latina viewers could see themselves finally represented on television. The character existing on a children’s cartoon show makes it even more impactful. It is a storyline and identity so rarely seen on television at the time.

The show included Afro-Latino celebrities into the story with well-placed cameos.

Who could possibly forget Mariah Carey playing Mariah Carey? Her pet monkey François was sick and, fortunately, Dr. Trudy Proud was able to help Carey’s pet get better.

In the time of reboots and revivals, it is nice to go back and revisit some of your faves exactly as they were. All these years later, “The Proud Family” continues to be one of those shows we all love and remember.

Who else remembers watching “The Proud Family” when they were younger?
