Becky G Makes The Funniest Faces When She Isn’t Paying Attention And Here Is Proof

There’s nothing we like more than a hella expressive face. And Becky G? She always delivers. We’re here for her face and her aesthetic! We’ve done some digging and found some good pics, and some fast facts about our girl. So without further ado, feast your eyes on some stellar shots – or, uh, classic duck faces, double chins, and sassy eyes – from our fave, Becky G.

1. Her birthday is on March 2, 1997.

That makes Becky G a relatively freshly minted 22-year-old – and a Pisces. Deep down, she’s a sensitive, artistic soul. Although considering her musical and acting talents, her creative spark might not be that deep down.

2. Her official debut single was “Becky from the Block”.

It was released in 2013. That’s right friends, that was six years ago! The song’s music video was filmed in Becky G’s own neighborhood. Given that it is a cover of Jennifer Lopez’s 2003 hit, “Jenny from the Block”, Lopez herself appears in the music video, too.

3. Becky G has also cameoed on Empire.

She played the part of Valentina Galindo, who was introduced as a potential love interest for the main character, Hakeem Lyon. However, it was the shortest of romances, with Becky G finishing her stint on the show after two episodes. As part of her appearance on the Empire, Becky G contributed two new songs to the television show’s soundtrack: “Do It” and “New New”.

4. She was born in California.

Her parents and most of her family – brothers Frankie and Alex, and younger sister Stephanie – were also born in the US. In fact, Becky G’s parents were high school sweethearts, having met at Santa Monica High School. That being said, all four of her grandparents are from Jalisco, Mexico.

5. She knew she wanted to be a singer when she was nine years old.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

Becky G previously said in an interview that she attributes her desire to sing as the result of a “mid-life crisis”. Heaven help her when she actually reaches middle age!

6. Her full name is Rebbeca Marie Gomez.

But don’t be mistaken – she’s of no relation to our girl Selena Gomez!

7. Becky G was homeschooled.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

She started working part-time when she was nine years old, after her family lost their home due to financial issues and moved into her grandparent’s house. While she initially attended public school, she was bullied harshly for her work in the entertainment industry, which led her to being homeschooled.

8. She taught herself to play the guitar.

At the tender age of thirteen, she had started writing her own songs – and playing the guitar naturally accompanied that creative process. This was after Beck G had already dabbled in using GarageBand to release cover songs on Youtube.

9. While working on her debut album, Becky G released her first song.

Let’s face it, this girl is driven. She hadn’t even released a proper solo album, and was already snapped up to record music for a film soundtrack! “Problem”, featuring will.i.am, was created for the movie Hotel Transylvania. It was eventually used to promote the film, with both Becky G and will.i.am featured in the music clip.

10. Becky G previously served as brand ambassador for CoverGirl.

The makeup brand started their partnership with her in June 2014, which lasted for roughly two years. If you look closely at her music videos from around that time, you’ll see CoverGirl products featured in them. #productplacement

11. She performs with a real social conscience.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

Becky G released “We Are Mexico” in 2015, after Donald Trump made derogatory comments against illegal Mexican immigrants. She used the song as a platform to open up a conversation about immigrants’ family values and dedication to hard work.

12. Becky G not only sings – she acts, too.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

Beyond her brief stint on Empire, she has also appeared in a feature film: the reboot of The Power Rangers that was released in 2017. She stole the show as the badass Trini Kwan, or, Yellow Ranger. This role marked a real departure from the original storyline of The Power Rangers, as Trini is shown to be queer in the film.

13. She once got pulled offstage by security during a performance.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

Back in 2017, Becky G was confirmed as the opening act for Fifth Harmony during the Latin American part of their tour. While Fifth Harmony was performing in Argentina, our girl Becky G noticed that band member Dinah Jane was suffering from a wardrobe malfunction, and rushed onstage to cover Jane up with the country’s flag. Security mistook Becky G for a fan, and pulled her offstage!

14. Becky G suffers from anxiety.

While touring with Fifth Harmony, there was an incident with fans grabbing at and harassing Becky G when she tried to leave her hotel. Panicked, Becky G fled. This led her to take to Snapchat to talk about what had happened, and explain that she suffers from anxiety.

15. Becky G is inspired by artists like Khalid and Normani.

“I think that they just have that thing that, you look at them and they know exactly who it is that they are, where it is that they wanna go,” she said in a recent interview with E! News, “And when I look at them … it’s intimidating but it’s also very inspiring.”

16. She has no problem sliding into those DMs.

… to get duets happening! Get your mind out of the gutter, please.

17. Her current squeeze is soccer player Sebastrian Lletget.

Apparently, the lovebirds were introduced by Becky G’s Power Rangers co-star, Naomi Scott. Before her current relationship, Becky G was linked to singer-songwriter Austin Mahone.

18. Becky G currently has a partnership going with ColourPop.

The makeup brand put together a lineup, named Salvaje, with Becky G at the end of 2018. Not only does it celebrate her Latinx roots, the makeup line also signifies the first time that ColourPop has collaborated with a musical artist! The makeup collection includes eyeshadows, matte and satin lipsticks, and highlighters.

19. She is politically aware.

Instagram / @iambeckyg

Becky G knows that she has a responsibility to act as a role model for her fans, and has used her fame to promote the importance of voting. She has also voiced support for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program in the US.

20. Becky G has recorded hits in both English and Spanish.

Her move into the Latin American pop charts was marked by collaborations with the likes of Pitbull, Play-N-Skillz, Axel and Lil John. She has also released solo songs in Spanish, such as “Sola” and “Mangú”.

Billboard Listed The Top 50 Latin Music Songs Of All Time And Some People Have Questions

shakira / jbalvin / Instagram

Latin music is something we all grew up with. Our parents raised us on the voices of Celia Cruz and Vicente Fernandez. We cleaned the house and entertained ourselves on road trips to these artists and they are ingrained in our DNA. Billboard recently released a list of the 50 best Latin music songs of all time and some are undoubtedly iconic and others just aren’t Latin music.

Billboard dropped their list for the 50 best Latin music songs of all time and some of them are truly classics.

Amor Prohibido” by Selena, “Guantanamera” by Celia Cruz, “El Rey” by Vicente Fernandez, and “El dia que me quieras” by Luis Miguel are just a few of the songs on the list that deserve all the praise. They are songs that transport us to our childhoods and cherished family memories.

The list also includes some newer songs that have rocked out adult worlds. “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, “Mi Gente” by J Balvin, “El Farsante” by Ozuna, and “Tusa” by Karol G and Nicki Minaj all made the list. Not only do these songs speak to the Latino audience, they have been able to go mainstream sharing our musical culture with the world. That’s something to admire and respect because it gives our community representation like never before.

The list has proven to be just want some people have been asking for.

Tbh, this would make a pretty amazing road trip playlist if you need to pass the time. Nothing like a mix of Latin music songs playing along to give you a big, inclusive sabor of Latin America through music. A little be of Mexico and a little bit of Puerto Rico mixed in with a little bit of Colombia is pure joy and magic.

However, a lot of people are questioning the list’s inclusion of Spanish artists.

The list has various artists who are not Latino, but Spanish. There seems to be an unspoken rule in the music industry that music in Spanish is automatically Latin music. Fans have long been arguing against the industry’s blanket label of Spanish-language music automatically being considered Latin music.

Rosalía, who has arguably become the face of the debate, is listed as having one of the best Latin music songs of all time.

While Rosalía does make some good music, there is a real push to make sure the artists of Latin American roots are uplifted in Latin music. There is nothing wrong with including Rosalía in your Spanish-language playlists but Latin music fans want the distinction made that some artists aren’t Latino.

You can check out the rest of the Billboard list here.

Turns out Lil Nas X has more than just country rap up his sleeve. The 21-year-old “Old Town Road” rapper has a penchant for literature too.

On Tuesday, the rapper revealed that he’s written a children’s book called C Is for Country.

“I’m dropping the best kids’ book of all time soon!” the rapper shared in a Tweet earlier this week before adding that he couldn’t “wait to share it” with his fans and young readers.

Nas’s children’s book is being published under Random House Kids, a division of Penguin Random House. It is currently available for preorder on their site.

According to the Random House Kids’ website, the book is a story about Lil Nas X and Panini the pony.

“Join superstar Lil Nas X—who boasts the longest-running #1 song in history—and Panini the pony on a joyous journey through the alphabet from sunup to sundown. Experience wide-open pastures, farm animals, guitar music, cowboy hats, and all things country in this debut picture book that’s perfect for music lovers learning their ABCs and for anyone who loves Nas’s signature genre-blending style,” Random House describes in its explanation.

The book is illustrated by Theodore Taylor III and promises “plenty of hidden surprises for Nas’ biggest fans.”

C Is for County comes out Jan. 5.
