Selena Gomez Turned A Best-Selling Novel Into A Series And It Looks Addictive AF
“13 Reasons Why,” the new show produced by Selena Gomez and her mom, will be on Netflix on March 31, but the trailer was just released and it’s more suspenseful than we could’ve imagined.
The 13 episode Netflix drama is based on Jay Asher’s 2007’s young adult novel of the same name. From the trailer we can tell that this high-intensity, teenage angst show will be completely binge-worthy.
The story is about a Hannah (played by Katherine Langford), a high school student who commits suicide, but according to her mom (played by Kate Walsh) didn’t leave a note. No one is exactly sure why she wanted to end her life that is until 13 cassettes are found. Yes, retro tapes!
Each tape reveals a little information was to what happened to Hannah. The preview hints that she didn’t kill herself just because she hated life, but because her so-called friends drove her to the edge, but why?
“Settle in because I’m about to tell you the story of my life,” Hannah says on one of the tapes. “More specifically, why my life ended. And if you are listening to this tape, you are one of the reasons why.”
Brian Yorkey, creator and producer, of “13 Reasons Why” said that the show is “clear-eyed and brutally honest about the pain of suicide… First and foremost we were telling a story about the pain and why that should be avoided at all costs.”
