21 Old Sofia Vergara Photos Which Prove Latinas Don’t Age

Sofía Vergara has been a household name in Latin America long before she scored her 2009 role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on “Modern Family,” which is entering into it’s tenth season. Her acting, beauty, and personality earned her the top spot as the world’s highest paid TV actress for the sixth year in a row. And not by a small margin. She earns $15 million more than the second highest paid actor, earning $41.5 million last year alone.

Long before she became one of the most influential Latinas in Hollywood, Vergara was just a young girl trying to win over the graces of the nuns at her Barranquilla, Colombia high school. From her first photo shoot at 11 years old to telenovelas, travel shows and even surviving cancer, Vergara has barely aged.

Vergara’s first photo shoot was when she was 11 years old.

It was the 80’s. Apparently, Vergara was “apprehensive” of entering the modeling industry until her Catholic school teachers gave her their blessing. *Makes Sign of the Cross*

By the time she was 13 years old, she was traveling to Bogota for shoots.

She was very thin growing up (and to this day), which was cause for bullying in 1980s Colombia. While she was coveted at the shoots, she would go back to school wearing two pairs of jeans to give the impression she had a fuller body.

Directors told Vergara to dye her hair darker so she could fit the Latina stereotype. ???? I have a lot of mixed feelings about this, but am ultimately glad that we get to see a Latina role played by a Latina.

Throughout the ’90s, she started making magazine covers and eventually got into acting.

Most of us were just babies back then, but our moms still had us in lo mismo earrings as Vergara.

It’s just a classic tale of jealousy around David Montalvo, who is successful and charming. Long story short, a woman is tricked into marrying an impersonator of David; David is involved in an accident and then gets amnesia; the woman falls in love with David.

Her big break was as Univision’s travel show host for “Fuera de Serie.”

Before Fuera De Serie, she was three years into a pre-dentistry program at a Colombian university before she dropped out. Instead, she got to travel the world, mostly to places that require a bathing suit, and became a household name.

She’s casually just a natural 32F.

She was then cast in the Spanish language version of Desperate Housewives.

It was called “Amas de Casa Desesperadas” and she honestly slayed the role. She played “Alicia” and narrated the Ecuadorian-Colombian series.

She was Blanca and she was sultry as hell in her fourth ever big screen role. She also had parts in “Lords of Dogtown,” “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns,” and “National Lampoon’s Pledge This!” as herself.

In 2002, she was a Miller Lite spokesperson and literally looks no different today.

By this point, she was already super famous in Latin America and made some pretty funny Spanish-language commercials for them.

She doesn’t eat meat in the U.S. because the “meat here tastes funny.”

Her father was a cattle rancher in Colombia, and she probably grew up on non-mutant cows. It all makes sense. Watch her Instagram for when she returns to Colombia because it’s just a bunch of pics of lechón.

She was conflicted between her religious beliefs and her career, but once she had her first child, she saw it as a chance to give her son a better life, away from gang violence.

Vergara married her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez, when she was 18 years old. They divorced two years later.

We know exactly how she was able to raise a kid and skyrocket her career: su familia fue, y todavía es todo. She bought 21 tickets to the 2013 Emmy’s for her closest family members. LOL

She named Manolo after the character in “Scarface.”

Apparently, 19 year old Vergara thought that Steven Bauer, who played Manolo, was “super hot.” That’s all the reason a 19 year old needs to name their kid, right?

In 1998, Vergara’s older brother was murdered in their hometown.

Rafael, 27, always went out with bodyguards, because all the Vergara’s had become targets for kidnapping. One day he went out alone and was shot dead in a kidnapping attempt gone terribly wrong. She moved her little brother, Julio, to Miami after Rafael died.

Julio suffers from addiction and was eventually deported back to Colombia in 2011.

Two years later she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Thankfully, it’s one of the most curable cancers, and she had the whole gland removed. She has to take medication daily for the rest of her life to control hypothyroidism. Obviously, she’s thriving.

Vergara is a total foodie.

Her and her husband, Joe Manganiello, are the most offensively attractive couple in Hollywood and very obviously smitten with each other. They got engaged after just six months of dating. #swoon

The both grew up in the same town of Baranquilla! Apparently, it’s where all the natural blonde Renaissance women live. Excuse me while I pack a bag.

Sofia Vergara Will Be Starring In a Gender-Swapped ‘Zorro’ TV Series Reboot Produced By Robert Rodriguez

Sofia Vergara Will Be Starring In a Gender-Swapped ‘Zorro’ TV Series Reboot Produced By Robert Rodriguez

Just when you thought you’d heard it all, news of Sofia Vergara playing Zorro’ TV Series comes out, and you have to start questioning everything.

That’s right–recently the news broke that Vergara will be starring in a “Zorro” TV series where she’ll be playing a female version of the legendary masked vigilante.

According to the press release, the Colombian beauty will be playing the character of Sola Dominguez, an “underground artist who fights for social justice as a contemporary version of the mythical Zorro’ TV Series.” The plot will thicken as Dominguez’s “life is threatened by several criminal organizations after she exposes them.” So…it sounds like the series will also be set in modern times? Interesting.

The character of “Zoro” was created by Johnston McCulley in 1919. The legend follows a masked, caped crusader (alias: Don Diego de la Vega) in Alta California who defends Indigenous and poor Californians from the heartless and exploitative ruling class.

The wildly popular character started off appearing in the pages of pulp fiction books before making his big-screen debut in 1920. Since then, the character has been played by everyone from Douglas Fairbanks to Antonio Banderas to Christian Meier.

This time around, the reboot is being produced by Mexican-American Robert Rodriguez of “Machete” and “Spy Kids” fame.

According to reports, the pilot will be directed by Robert Rodriguez’s sister, writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez. So that means the main creative team is made up of Latinos and will be spearheaded by a woman. This sounds like a super exciting project!

This isn’t the first time that Rodriguez and Vergara have partnered up professionally. The duo previously teamed up for 2013’s Machete Kills in which Vergara played a deadly and seductive brothel owner.

This isn’t the first time that Robert Rodriguez has been attached to a Zorro movie. He was initially set to direct 1999’s version, The Mask of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas, but ended up shelving that project due to creative differences.

We hope that Rodriguez can truly execute his vision this time around! We love to see Latinos as a creative force in front of and behind the camera.

Sofia Vergara Finally Breaks Silence About When Ellen DeGeneres Disrespected Her Accent

Sofia Vergara Finally Breaks Silence About When Ellen DeGeneres Disrespected Her Accent

Warner Bros. Television Distribution

Updated August 24, 2020.

Given the recent string of allegations against Ellen DeGeneres, many of her fans are taking inventory of her jokes and viewing them in a new light. Weighing and measuring the jokes DeGeneres has made in the past, fans are finding the comedian guilty of mean-spiritedness. Particularly when it comes to her treatment of her frequent show guest Sofia Vergara over the years.

Over the last decade, DeGeneres has had time to host Vergara on her talk show various times. Whether Vergara was herself or when she was sitting alongside the rest of the cast of her old show “Modern Family.” And despite the very many things DeGeneres could have talked to or celebrated Vergara for while hosting her, the Colombian actress was often subject to some of the worst jokes by DeGeneres.

All because of her thick accent.

Recently fans compiled clips of DeGeneres’s interviews with Vergara and it’s pretty not great.

In clips circulating on Twitter, DeGeneres can be seen jeering Vergara for her accent. During one interview, DeGeneres remarks hat Vergara’s “English has gotten worse, not better,” over the course of her time on “Modern Family.” Users on Twitter were quick to point out that DeGeneres often made jokes about Vergara’s English and often tried to make games out of her English-speaking abilities. In several incidents during the interviews, it seems pretty evident that Vergara might have been hurt by DeGeneres’ jokes.

Recently, Vergara addressed claims that DeGeneres was being racist towards her.

In response to allegations that DeGeneres was being racist, Vergara commented “Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain,” in a tweet going on to say “I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.”

In response to Vergara’s message fans have pointed out that whether done with the intention of being racist towards Vergara specifically, DeGeneres’ jokes at the time were still hurtful to others.

“My parents, who have heavy spanish accents, didn’t have the option to be in on the joke.’ Instead, they were the butt of jokes,” one user wrote. “And as a child of immigrants, I was always picked on because of that. Your ‘entertainment’ may lead to some to think they have a free pass to ridicule.”

“Me too, my poor mom took classes to try to reduce her accent despite being perfectly understandable. The discrimination was even worse in the 80s but Ellen keeps it alive,” another Twitter user commented. “It’s the lowest form of humor, the put down towards the other person. It’s non funny peoples humor.”

DeGeneres has yet to comment on the clips that have resurfaced.

But they’re pretty damning.

Tons of people are commenting on the clips being shared of the actresses time together.

And it’s pretty heartbreaking how hurtful DeGeneres’ comments are.

And of course, you might remember this terrible offense.
