At A Fan’s Request, Lin-Manuel Miranda Got Super Sassy On ‘The Tonight Show’ And It’s Hilarious
Lin-Manuel Miranda has made the rounds on late night shows to promote his new song, “Almost Like Praying,” which was created to raise money for Puerto Ricans recovering from Hurricane Maria. Jimmy Fallon put Miranda to the test when he stopped by this week by making him freestyle with The Roots. And Miranda delivered. Fallon turned to an audience member named Olivia, who came up with the title of a fictional Broadway show that Miranda could use as the inspiration for his freestyle. With a title like “The Sassy Life,” you knew it was going to be good.
“Everyone would want her to be their wife / But she showed up to sassy to be your sassy wife / This is my sassy life I live that sassy life,” Miranda sang as audience member Olivia and Fallon laughed uncontrollably.

Well done, young man. Well done.
After the freestyling portion of the show, Miranda admitted his son hates “Hamilton” but loves “Almost Like Praying.”
Miranda first thanked everyone for helping Puerto Rico by donating money to the cause. Miranda discussed how he was able to write, produce, and release “Almost Like Praying” in just two weeks. It was his son, however, who gave him the confidence to put out the song. According to Miranda, his son hates “Hamilton,” so it’s safe to say he is a tough critic. But “Almost Like Praying” was able to speak to Miranda’s son like no other song.
“He’s a harsh critic,” Miranda told Fallon. “I play him stuff and he says, ‘I don’t like that song.’ But I played him ‘Almost Like Praying’ and he got up and went, ‘I am Puelto Lico. You are Puelto Lico. We are Puelto Lico.’ He doesn’t have the R’s yet.”
