Jennifer Lopez Wants to Play Batman One Day and Here’s What That All Latinx Cast Could Look Like

Jennifer Lopez has proven over her long career that she can do anything. Whether she’s acting as a musician, actress or businesswoman, she’s shown what talent and dedication can bring to her every role. In fact, JLo is hoping to one day bring that famous work ethic to another unexpected part.

In a recent sit down for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview, JLo talked with the newly cast Batman, Robert Pattinson. During the captivating interview, the two began talking about how they choose the roles that they decide to take on. This brought up the topic of the upcoming “Batman” movie. When Lopez mentioned that she thought Pattison will make an excellent Batman, the actor countered by saying the Latina superstar would be a great Batman as well. To which, Lopez responded, “I could be Batman. Why not? I think as an actor, it would be fun to explore.”

This interaction got us thinking. We would love to see a “Batman” movie led by JLo as the Caped Crusader but an all Latinx cast would be even better. Gotham better get ready because here’s what an all Latinx “Batman” movie could look like.

Jennifer Lopez as Batman

What does it take to play Batman? It needs to be an actor who has the athleticism to do justice to the Dark Knight while still having the charisma to play the Bat’s billionaire counterpart. Anyone who’s seen JLo’s on-stage antics knows she’s got the skills to wear the cape and it’s no question that she’s a charismatic individual. To top it off, with movies like “Hustlers” under her belt, JLo has proven that she can lead to big bucks at the box office. As far as we’re concerned, she can play the superhero whenever she likes.

Diego Boneta as Robin

Instagram / @diego

The actor who plays Robin will need to have boyish good looks, the ability to bring some humor to the script’s dark moments and the same athleticism as Batman. His staring role in “Rock of Ages” more than proved that Diego Boneta’s got the moves and his time on “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210” have cemented him as a heartthrob. Sounds like we’ve got ourselves a Boy Wonder.

Edward James Olmos as Alfred

Who better to play JLo’s father-like confidant than the man who first played her dad on the big screen. Edward James Olmos is definitely a legend in his craft and would bring an air of wisdom necessary to play Batman’s trusted butler. He’ll also make sure Batman isn’t leaving the cave in any bustiers.

Becky G as Batgirl

With her role as the Yellow Ranger in the big screen adaptation of ‘Power Rangers,” Becky G has already  shown us that she’s got the skills to play a superhero. Her naturally spunky personality would also be perfect to bring the bold and sarcastic Batgirl to life in an all Latinx reboot.

Pedro Pascal as Catwoman

Instagram / @pascalispunk

If we are going to gender bend the role of Batman, we might as well do the same for the Bat’s love interest, Catwoman. His role as Oberyn Martell in “Game of Thrones” showed us what the actor can do with a staff. Just imagine that same skill applied with a whip instead and we’ve got ourselves a dynamite Catwoman. The possibility of seeing Pascal in a catsuit is an added bonus.

Benicio Del Toro as the Joker

Instagram / @actorzrevolutionz7

Benicio Del Toro has a talent for playing bad guys and, if the bad guys are more than slightly unhinged, it’s all the better. No bad guy is a bigger nemesis to the Caped Crusader than the Joker and we can definitely see Del Toro in this role. Think of his performance as Jack Rafferty in “Sin City” mixed with his time as The Collector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s the kind of energy he could bring to the Clown Prince of Gotham.

Cardi B as Poison Ivy

Instagram / @iamcardib

Let’s consider Cardi’s 2019 Halloween costume as her unofficial audition for Poison Ivy. A femme fatele that can have any man she wants eating out of the palm of her hand? That sounds like Cardi to us. Plus, the rapper would be rejoining her “Hustlers” costar JLo. Seeing them pole dance together was just the preview to them fighting each other in this all Latinx reboot.

Oscar Isaac as the Penguin

Oscar Isaac is another actor who has a history of taking on strange and thought provoking roles. Though he’s best known now for is time as Poe in “Star Wars,” he’s also played straight-up villians. His performances as Blue Jones in “Sucker Punch” and Nathan Bateman in “Ex Machina” truly show the range he can bring to a complex character such as the Penguin. Added bonus: he looks great in a three-piece suit.

“Narcos” is one of Netflix’s most wildly popular original series. Over the years, fans have learned about Narcos culture and history through the show and we are officially getting another season. Here’s what we know.

“Narcos: Mexico” Season 3 is coming to Netflix and, like, omg.

“Narcos” first started with following the drug trade in Colombia with Pablo Escobar. The fourth season was instead “Narcos: Mexico” and the beginnings of the Mexican drug trade became the focus of the series. Fans went wild for the show and it has continued to enjoy success with the Netflix audience.

Showrunner Eric Newman is stepping down in the coming season.

Instead, co-creator Carlos Bernard is stepping up and taking on the role of showrunner. Newman was the showrunner for five seasons since “Narcos” first started and is excited to see the show develop under Bernard.

“I am grateful for my five years at the helm of ‘Narcos’ and ‘Narcos: Mexico’ and am immensely proud of what this spectacular team has achieved with these shows,” Newman told Variety. “Carlos Bernard is the first person I ever spoke to about this project, over ten years ago, and I am extremely pleased to leave the steering of Season 3 of ‘Narcos: Mexico’ in his very capable hands.”

Brace yourself because Diego Luna is not joining the cast this season.

Tbh, Luna was one of the best parts of the show. He isn’t everything but he was a major part of the iconic and beloved show. The news is bumming out large parts of the “Narcos” fanbase who have come to love and look forward to him.

People are ready for this to happen yesterday.

Like, thank you for letting us know it is happening Netflix. Now we need to know when the show will actually be released. We appreciate the little update but we just need to know when we can watch the show.

We look forward to the release date, Netflix.

We are ready to sit on the couch and binge the season the moment it drops. Let’s get this together and get the show streaming. Thank you so very much!

Even The Biggest ‘Scream’ Movie Fans Probably Don’t Know These Crazy Facts About The Film Franchise

Even The Biggest ‘Scream’ Movie Fans Probably Don’t Know These Crazy Facts About The Film Franchise

Scream / Dimension Films

This year seems like the year of scary movies. Pretty much all Halloween events and parties have been cancelled thanks to the pandemic so what’s better than staying home and watching a scary movie?

One of our favorites is definitely Scream. Sure, the franchise may have lost its way in the third and fourth installments, but they’ve cemented themselves as not just iconic pieces of Halloween entertainment but also memorable movies in general.

You can’t honestly say Ghostface doesn’t creep you out a little bit! Helmed by horror icon Wes Craven, the Scream series launched in 1996 and saw four films — and will have a fifth in 2022. The movies, starring Neve Campbell, are exactly what we reach for every spooky season, but we bet you didn’t know some of these fun facts about the franchise.

The movie was originally called Scary Movie.

Before being called Scream, the project was called Scary Movie, not to be confused with the parody movie that came out later. The movie’s new name was inspired by Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s song “Scream,” released the year prior.

The use of caller ID systems more than tripled after the release of the film.

Drew Barrymore says that caller ID use in the U.S. tripled after “Scream” was released in 1996 — and she would know, because her character might’ve survived past 10 minutes if she had it.

Speaking of phone calls: Drew Barrymore kept calling the real 911 while filming the movie.

While filming the opening scene of the first movie, Drew Barrymore, who plays Casey, kept accidentally dialing the real 911 because someone on the props team actually forgot to unplug the phone before filming. Who would of thought they’d actually be using real phones to begin with?

The naive yet beloved Dewey character was actually supposed to die in the first film.

In a tweet, Arquette says that he has behind the scenes footage of the final scene in the movie and that he was actually supposed to be killed in the original script. But we all know that isn’t what happened and we’ve come to love him appearing in each of the films.

As a result, Arquette has now reprised his role of Dewey Riley across four Scream films and will do so again in the fifth that’s filming now. What’s worse, he says people to this day still refer to him as “Doofy,” or his character from the Scream parodies Scary Movie.

Many other actresses were considered for the lead role of Sidney.

Although we’ve all come to love Neve Campbell in the Scream series – in fact, it wouldn’t be the same without her – she wasn’t the only actress up for the role. There were several big-name actors being considered, including everyone from Melissa Joan Hart and Brittany Murphy to Tori Spelling and Drew Barrymore. The latter actually landed the role but due to scheduling conflicts decided to pull out and was offered the smaller role of Casey.

Most of the actors in the film were told to wear black boots as part of their character’s costume.

David Arquette said in a tweet that director Craven paid such close attention to details that he asks many of the people in the cast to wear black boots to lend to the suspicion that any character could be the killer.

In Scream 2, Jada Pinkett Smith is killed in a very gruesome way and it was all her idea.

Jada Pinkett Smith met her untimely end early on in Scream 2 — and she asked for it. “I remember saying to the director at the time, ‘I want to die the most horrific death that has ever happened in a horror film,'” she told People. Director Wes Craven delivered, and Pinkett Smith was grandly offed.

If you’re a huge scream fan then you’re probably counting down the days until Scream 5. Here’s what we know so far:

Sadly, Scream 5 will be the first in the series not directed by Wes Craven, the mastermind behind A Nightmare on Elm Street and others, as he passed away in 2015 due to brain cancer. However, there is reason to celebrate his successors, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (collectively referred to as Radio Silence). The filmmakers earned attention from genre fans for their segments in anthologies V/H/Sand Southbound, but more recently turned a lot of heads directing their sophomore feature-length effort, 2019’s horror-comedy hit Ready or Not.

However, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and Courtney Cox are all set to return to Woodsboro in their original roles.

Filming has already started but it looks like we’ll have to wait until January 2022 to be able to actually see the movie.
