The 10 Year Challenge Is Showing How Gracefully Latinos Age And It’s Beautiful

It’s a brand new year with a brand new Twitter hashtag trending. Essentially, what we’ve learned from this trend is that Latinos reverse age and we all have a lot to look forward to. We’re also happy that A-line animal print belts haven’t carried through to 2019.

Friendly disclaimer: all these people are paid to be beautiful for forever. It’s a full-time job. Don’t torture yourself.

She’ll be at the top of all our lists because this woman is mega on top of her game. She’s a business mogul, producer, mother, and artist. I’m okay with these genes.

While makeup mogul Manny MUA shared the most inspiring story of 2019.

Caption: “GIRLLLL that #10yearchallenge has me SHOOK! 10 years ago I graduated high school…. I was battling so much internally at the time and never wanted anyone to know so I’d bottle it away and pretended I was always happy and perfect… but the reality was that I was angry! I didn’t understand why I was gay, I didn’t want to be gay, that wasn’t part of my “plan” so I’d hide it away and do my best to never show the world who I truly was… leaping forward a decade and WOW what a difference! Not only have I accepted myself, millions of others have as well! Never give up on yourself, it will get better as long as your continue to strive to be the best you that you can be! ❤️ #2009vs2019”

The only difference I see between 2009 Aguilera and 2019 is that she’s going for a bolder lip these days. Way to slay.

Jaime Camil

Your favorite telenovela star seems to have found his salt and pepper look in only the last few years! You age well, Camil.

Antonio Banderas

There is so much to unpack here, that we just won’t. Let’s instead acknowledge that Banderas looks exactly the same as ten years ago.

Justina Machado

Now we begin the series of Latina women who truly don’t seem to age. Is she rocking the same earrings? I’m impressed.

Marisol Nichols

You can’t even tell which photo is of the older Marisol, can you? Truly, this is brujería, which would also explain what is happening in Riverdale right now.

Salice Rose

I’m sorry, what, Salice?! This comedian/beauty queen has it so together, it’s impossible to believe she’s only 25 years old. #Fierce.

Honestly, yes, queen. This bangin’ Salvi poet is La Reina of #bopo, and is embracing all of it with those red lips and gold nails. Te amo.

You thought we’d forget about our favorite Chilean-Italian-American? Snooki has graduated from playing in sandboxes to snuggling with her adorable hijos.

Then there are the fitness glow-ups.

Caption: “#10yearchallenge From unhealthy, depressed, and unhappy. To healthy, confident, and living the best years of my life. Life isn’t a race, but a marathon. I started working out and eating healthy as a way to cope with depression, lack of self-confidence and purpose in life. It became my passion, and my medicine. Today my passion has become my career. I am thankful for all the hardships, the set backs, the late nights, the sacrifices, and everything life has thrown at me. Because today I an say I feel and look better at 30 with a toddler, than I 10 years ago.

Make your life count. Do not waste your best years doubting yourself waiting for the perfect moment to act on the things you want the most. Every year brings different challenges. Let’s keep learning, growing, and pushing ourselves. Happy Monday my tribe, I’ll be seeing you at the LA Fit expo January 26th-27th. Cannot wait to see you there.”

Gisele Bündchen

While we’re always ready for more Gisele pics, the supermodel gave us food for thought instead.

Caption: “#10yearchallenge is a great opportunity to reflect. Have you ever stopped to think where you were 10 years ago? What were the dreams you had for yourself and for the world? What are you most proud of today? If you ask me, I would say that, besides creating and nurturing my own family, I´m also very proud of the Agua Limpa Project, that my family and I created 10 years ago to help to better the quality of the water in my hometown – Brazil. In the beginning it was challenging, but we had a dream and a deep desire to be helpful. 10 years later, I’m happy to say that we did it! We planted more than 40,000 trees on the river banks that not only improved the water quality and helped to preserve the area for the future generations but also created an ecological corridor that brought wildlife back! It´s incredible to see when we give Nature a helping hand, she does the rest and thrives. The more we take care of Nature the better she can take care of us. We are all connected.”

POTUS

This is one stunning and jarring photo. It’s kindof amazing how much the White House can change in just 10 years.

Sammy Sosa

Nothing is worse than seeing Dominicana baseball hero Sammy Sosa bleach himself white. Hopefully, the next ten years are all about self-love and Latino pride.

One of the year’s biggest collaborations is starting to make more progress after being largely shut down thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. Of course, we’re talking about the upcoming highly-anticipated Jennifer Lopez film, Marry Me, which also stars Maluma in his acting debut.

Although we still have a while to wait before the movie makes its big screen debut (not until 2021), we’re finally getting our first look at what the duo will look like on screen along with other exciting details about the project.

Marry Me finally has an official trailer and JLo and Maluma fans couldn’t be more excited.

It seems like we’ve been hyped up for this film forever – and thanks to Coronavirus, we kinda have. But finally, Universal has released the teaser for Marry Me, and it reveals a few new details about the film and its cast. Along with J.Lo, the film stars Owen Wilson, Sarah Silverman, and Colombian singer Maluma in his major feature debut.

The film was originally announced last summer and production began in October 2019 but much of it was shut down once the Coronavirus struck. The film is directed by Kat Coiro (It’s Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaDead to Me) and features original music by Lopez and Maluma, which sounds too perfect to be legal, sorry.

To celebrate the cinematic milestone, López and Maluma have reported that they are recording a full-length soundtrack of original songs. Maluma Baby is hyped from the time he’s spent in the studio with J.Lo (who wouldn’t be?), telling a reporter last year, “It’s been such an amazing experience also working, doing music. I mean we never stop.”

So here’s everything we know about the film so far.

Credit: Theo Wargo / Getty Images

Based on the graphic novel by Bobby Crosby, the film is described as a “modern love story about celebrity, marriage and social media.” López plays musical sensation Kat Valdez, who agrees to live-stream her marriage with her fellow superstar Bastian (Maluma — fictional or not, this is officially the hottest couple on Planet Earth and we can’t unsee it) in order to boost the sales of their new single and duet, “Marry Me.”

When she finds out that Bastian has been cheating on her, however, she freaks out and decides to marry a stranger in the audience watching: divorced high-school math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson), who was dragged to the event by his daughter. The unexpected sequence of events leads the two down a path toward unexpected true love.

Even with a new movie coming out, both JLo and Maluma have been hard at work in the studio.

Just last month, Maluma surprise released his latest album – PAPI JUANCHO. It’s Maluma’s fifth studio album and was produced alongside longtime collaborators Rude Boyz. Although the album features Maluma’s alter ego as the main star, it also includes several guest appearances from a number of reggaetón royals, including Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavarez, Myke Towers, and Jory Boy. PAPI JUANCHO was made during quarantine between the singer’s hometown of Medellín and Miami, his U.S. base.

Meanwhile, JLo has teased new music in recent weeks. Jennifer Lopez posted a picture with producer Ryan Tedder over the weekend in which she promised that new music is “just around the corner.”

The snap, in which Lopez is sporting dark red lips and a messy up hairdo alongside the OneRepublic leader and veteran songwriter/producer — rocking a black Mad Tasty hat — doesn’t offer much more detail about what the duo are cooking up, but Lopez seems pretty psyched.

“Can u feeeeeel it… new music just around the corner!!” Lopez wrote.

It would be a welcome return for Lopez, who has only released a remix of “If You Had My Love” so far this year, as fans wait for her to announce a release date for her as-yet-untitled ninth studio album. Lopez’s last full-length was 2014’s A.K.A., which featured the singles “I Luh Ya Papi,” “First Love” and “Booty.”

JLo Introduces Her Nibling, Brendon In New Short Film ‘Draw With Me’ And It’s A Must Watch

JLo / Instagram

Jennifer Lopez has been wildly busy as of late – and that’s all despite a global pandemic. The Hustlers star attempted a takeover of the New York Mets baseball team with her husband A-Rod, she’s launching her own beauty line, and continues to push out grade-A social media content that keeps her fans begging for more.

Although she’s been busy, she still found the time to support her nibling – who has created a short film about how art was a lifeline for them when coming out. She used the term, which is a gender-neutral alternative for a niece or nephew, when discussing her sister Leslie Lopez’s child, Brendan Scholl (who is transgender and uses they/them pronouns).

Jennifer Lopez has introduced the world to her nibling Brendon and their new short film.

In a video posted to her Instagram TV channel, JLo introduced the film Draw With Me. She’s supporting the short film by her nibling which is about “accepting change and challenges with love, knowing when we do –everything is possible. Please enjoy the first 5 minutes of this incredible story. Stay tuned for the full documentary at film festivals worldwide and coming soon on VOD. A film by @ithakafilms @marcomaranghello @lyndalopez08,” she says in the post.

During her introduction, she explained, “Draw With Me is a short film about a transgender youth and their journey of coming out to their family, and also engaging with their art to help them cope with the feelings they were having during this time.”

She continued on to say, “The film is important and timely in its story and message, and can have a huge impact on those of us who watch and experience what Brendon and their family is going through in this time of acceptance and admission. It’s a story very close to my heart, because it was a family affair… because Brendon is my nibling.”

In the film, Brendon tells the very important and timely story of their coming out and coming to terms with their identity.

After JLo’s brief introduction, there’s a short five-minute preview of the film, featuring Brendon telling their coming out story. “It was in eighth grade when I finally felt comfortable with saying that I’m trans,” they said. As their mom Leslie explained in the film, “You’re talking about your identity as a person. Sexual preference has to do with who you go to bed with, and your identity is who you go to bed as.”

Brendon continued: “I’m just hit with how lucky I am in terms of the family and friends. Titi Jen made that post where she used the right pronouns. It felt really nice to have a family member in a very public way show their support, makes me appreciate things other people will do for me and for anyone else who’s struggling.”

They also share some very dark moments that illustrates how important films like ‘Draw With Me’ really are.

When talking about their lowest moment in the five-minute clip, Brendon says, “The darkest point was definitely when I wasn’t out to any of my teachers or my parents. I was worried about when I came out, that would be like the last straw, so to speak.” The family then reflect upon the night that Brendon very sadly tried to take their own life.

After this, Leslie says, came a turning point, “When it finally hit me, like, ‘Oh my God, my kid just trying to kill themself’, it just hit me. When you finally get to the acceptance part, then you realise it’s not about you. This is about my child.”

And when aunt Lynda asked Brendon about advice they would give to someone who has never had a trans person in their life, their message was clear. “The best thing I can say is just believe them. I shouldn’t have to be scared to tell people who I am,” they said. “If they don’t like me because I’m trans then it’s their loss. I’m not going to change myself just because this one person doesn’t like it.”
