From Nick Jonas To The Weeknd: Take A Look Back At Selena Gomez’s Dating History

Selena Gomez has come a long way from her starring role on Disney channel, becoming a household name, with seven top ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100. Starring in a Disney TV show, several movies and releasing five albums as a music artist, the star has achieved so much for someone who is 26 years old. Selena, whose father is of Mexican descent, is also the most followed musician on Instagram. Her personal life is just as hectic as her professional life, with her mental and physical health sometimes being a burden. Her dating history has also been complicated and today we’re going to outline the main highlights.

One of Selena Gomez’s first boyfriends was a Jonas brother.

The story starts like many stories; The Disney Channel. We all know that during Selena’s time with Disney, The Jonas Brothers were the coolest guys in town. Selena must have thought so too because she has confirmed that she dated the youngest Jonas brother, Nick Jonas, in 2008.This was shortly after Nick’s split with Miley Cyrus.

The couple dated for just under a year and then reportedly started seeing each other again in 2010 for a shorter stint. The reason the two permanently broke up is unknown. Both Selena and Nick were 15 years old when they began dating.

There was a lot of secrecy when Selena dated Nick.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest in 2008, Nick remained private about his relationship with Selena, neither confirming nor denying that they were a romantic couple. This constant secrecy may have been the reason Selena and Nick’s relationship didn’t work out.

Despite the secrecy, Selena and Nick are still on good terms.

10 years after the romance ended between Selena and the youngest Jonas Brother, it appears that the two singers still remain friends. In an interview with Capital FM in 2015, Selena said that Nick is “lovely” and that their relationship was “sweet” and like “puppy love”. Nick has also complemented Selena, even saying that she is a good kisser. The two of them have clearly kept in touch.

Selena also had a short relationship with Taylor Lautner whilst she was filming a movie.

Taylor Lautner, the actor most famous for playing the role of Jacob in the Twilight series, was filming a movie at the same location as Selena in 2009. They then began dating casually. The couple were spotted out together several times but the romance only last a few months. By the time Selena finished filming and returned home, the relationship had fizzled out.

The Jelena madness began in 2010.

Jelena, the celebrity couple name for Selena Gomez and Justin Beiber, has been used many times since the couple began dating in 2010. Justin, who is a Canadian singer and songwriter, rose to fame when he was just 14 years old. When he was 16, he began a romantic relationship with Selena who was 18 at the time.

After a couple of years dating and being completely loved up, it was announced that Selena and Justin had decided to split up in 2012. The reasoning behind the break up was supposedly due to their busy schedules which they found difficult dealing with whilst maintaining a relationship.

However, Selena and Justin continue a rocky on-off relationship over the next 4 years.

Selena and Justin continued to be close friends and were spotted being intimate with each other multiple times between 2012 and 2018. The couple clearly had a connection and never seemed to hide their affections for each other. They continued to date passionately for a few months at a time, taking breaks to have time apart every so often.

Selena clearly dealt with heartbreak.

The rocky Jelena situation led to speculation that Selena Gomez’s love song “The Heart What It Wants” was actually written about Justin. Selena did end up confirming that this was the case, following her emotional and heart-breaking performance of the single on the American Music Awards in 2014. The song was written after one of Selena and Justin’s serious break ups.

Following Selena’s unsteady relationship with Justin, she may have desired a romance that was more concrete and secure which led her to begin dating the R’n’B musician The Weeknd. The couple began seeing each other at the start of 2017 when Selena was 24 years old.

Selena and The Weeknd became the new Jelena for a while. Their romance may not have lasted as long as Jelena, but the couple actually started living together in New York in 2017 and bought a puppy together. During an interview with Insider, Selena expressed that she was very happy and that she felt “lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else”.

Selena’s relationship with The Weekend unfortunately ended within a year. By the end of 2017, Selena was single again. Discussing the split, Selena revealed to NME that the break up ended well. Selena said “We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other]”.

After the news that Selena had broken up with The Weeknd, Justin revealed to PEOPLE that he was happy she was single again and hoped to regain her trust to get back together. Within a month of the break up with The Weeknd, Selena and Justin were spotted kissing and connecting again. A few months later, in 2018, Selena and Justin decided to take a break to spend some time focusing on themselves.

Selena and Justin may have attempted to stay in contact as close friends but, since the beginning of 2018, there has been no evidence to say that they have got back together romantically. The two have apparently permanently moved on. So much so that Justin got engaged to new girlfriend, Hailey Baldwin, in July. Justin and Hailey had previously dated for a few months back in 2015.

As Selena focuses on her health, she is reportedly single at the moment and not worried about having a man in her life. Selena revealed to E!News back in May that she is much happier doing her own thing. The sources also added that Selena is “fully open to dating” so a possible new relationship could be on the horizon.

Selena Gomez’s Brand New ‘Rare’ Tattoo Got Us Thinking: Did You Know All These Celebs have Neck Tats?

Selena Gomez dropped her third solo studio album just last week. And she celebrated the years-in-the-making project by getting some new ink on Wednesday night. And we got thinking —did you know all these celebrities have neck tattoos too? Read on for more.

Selena Gomez celebrated the release of her long-awaited third album Rare by getting a new tattoo.

Taking to social media, the pop star revealed she’d inked the album’s title on her neck, just below her right ear. “Did it again…rare,” Gomez captioned a video of herself checking out the finished product in the mirror for the first time, also tagging famed New York City tattoo shop Bang Bang NYC.

The dainty tattoo—written in the same script as the album’s cover art—isn’t her first one.

Although the singer’s brand new tattoo is just the most recent of her extensive collection, it does seem to be the first ink to directly reference one of her three solo studio sets. Her latest album features Hot 100 chart topper “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now,” Rare serves as a years-in-the-making follow-up to 2013’s Stars Dance and 2015’s Revival.

Stars are always looking for new ways to express themselves…

Sometimes artists choose to convey their sensibility with particularly challenging acting roles or with the next top 40 ballad and other times with body art. So, how well do you know these oft-hidden works of celebrity ink? Keep reading to test your knowledge of stars’ neck tattoos.

Eva Longoria’s regretful ‘nine’

The “Desperate Housewives” star got this tattoo in honor of her husband, basketball star Tony Parker, who’s jersey number is —you guessed it— No. 9. After their marriage collapsed in late 2010 amid allegations Tony cheated, Eva began the painful process of having this tattoo (and two others that paid homage to the basketball star) removed.

Victoria Beckham’s Hebrew tattoo

The former pop star has a quote from the Song of Solomon etched in Hebrew down the back of her neck and spine in honor of her sixth wedding anniversary —although, she famously wanted to get it removed in the early 2010s, we’re not too sure whether the ink is still there.

Jessica Alba’s little flower

The actress got this tiny design of a daisy and ladybug tattooed on the back of her neck years and years ago.

Vanessa Hudgens’ first tattoo

The “Spring Breakers” actress got the tattoo at New York City’s celeb-friendly tattoo parlor Bang Bang Tattoos in February 2011. “A butterfly landed on my mom’s stomach a week before I was born and that’s how I got my name, because Vanessa means butterfly —it’s a Latin derivative,” the “High School Musical” alum explained on “Late Show With David Letterman.”

Rihanna’s typo

The super star’s neck tat reads “rebelle fleur,” which actually translates to the equivalent of “flower rebellious” rather than the intended “rebellious flower” or “rebel flower.” In 2011, the singer launched her first fragrance for women, which she similarly named Reb’l Fleur.

Justin Bieber’s Patience and Angel Wing Neck Tattoos

The Canadian singer-songwriter has ‘Patience’ inked vertically in a Gothic style font along the right side of his neck. He also has a tattoo of two black and grey angel wings on the back of his neck.

Cara Delevingne’s Magical Yantra Tattoo

The English model/actress first inked a design inspired by Yantra tattooing and later added a pair of spooky eyes.

Cardi B’s Samuel and Sign Language Tattoos

Yournextshoes.com

The popular rapper has the American sign language gesture for “I Love You” and a small black star inked behind her right ear. She also had the name “Samuel” in red ink tattooed just below her neck —although that one has probably been removed by now.

Offset’s tribute to Cardi

Nothing says “I love you forever” like getting your girlfriend’s name tattooed on your neck. Migos rapper Offset apparently had “Cardi B” inked on his neck along with a cartoon image of Powerpuff Girls character Buttercup (a fave of Cardi B).

Here’s What The Toro Cheerleaders Would Look Like If They Were Latinas

Here’s What The Toro Cheerleaders Would Look Like If They Were Latinas

Few films have gotten the honor of reaching cult teen movie status like the 2000 classic “Bring It On.” The film, a mega-hit about two dueling cheerleader teams, has stood the test of time. Though it’s a movie about cheerleading on its surface, the themes of cultural appropriation and female empowerment are still relevant today. Nearly 20 years later, the antics of the Toros and the Clovers continue to be an entertaining watch. Still, we can’t help thinking how much better “Bring It On” would be if it was given a touch of the Latinidad with a fresh recast.

1. Selena Gomez as Torrence

Universal Pictures / Phillip Faraone

Perky Torrence is the brand new cheer squad captain of the Rancho Carne Toros. The excitement of her new position quickly dulls when she realizes that she’s got some big shoes to fill. Originally played by Kirsten Dunst, Selena Gomez is perfect actress to fill this role. We know Gomez already has some killer moves already and that bubbly attitude of hers just screams “head cheerleader.”

2. Becky G as Missy

Universal Pictures / Emilio Sanchez

Full of fierce attitude, Missy is the new girl in school. Since Rancho Carne doesn’t have a gymnastics team, Missy has to settle for the next best thing — even if that means putting up with the air headed cheer team. Played by Eliza Dushku in the OG “Bring It On,” pop star Becky G is just the mujer to bring the Chigona POV to the Toros.

3. Tyler Posey as Cliff

Universal Pictures / Shutterstock

Dreamboat Cliff is also new to Ranco Carne and he already has his sights on Torrence. Jesse Bradford played Cliff in the original movie but for our Latinx version, Tyler Posey is our guy. Charming high school senior by day, alternative rocker at night; we can totally see Posey crooning a love song to Gomez’s Torrence.

4. Cardi B as Isis

Universal Pictures / Shutterstock

Head-Boss-Lady-In-Charge, Isis is the cheer captain of the East Compton Clovers. When she discovers the Toros have been stealing their moves, she rallies her Clovers to win Nationals. Played by Gabriel Union in the original movie, Cardi B is the only Afro-Latina who can bring the same level of fierceness to the role. We already know Cardi has the moves and there’s no question she can rep the Clovers as their leader.

5. Bella Thorne as Big Red

Universal Pictures / Shutterstock

The former boss of the Toros, Big Red — played by Lindsay Sloane — is a force of nature. Not above flat out cheating to get what she wants, Big Red is the one who stole the Clovers’ routine for nationals. With this baggage, it’s going to take a formidable Latina to fill this role. That’s why Bella Thorne, with her fiery red hair and stellar acting chops, would be a perfect fit for our Latina Big Red.

6. Francia Raísa as Courtney

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is PSX_20190311_154727.jpg
Universal Pictures / Jason Merritt

A member of the Rancho Carne Toros, Courtney is all confidence and sex appeal. She also has very strong opinions about who should and shouldn’t be a cheerleader and isn’t afraid to let it be known. Originally played by Clare Kramer, Francia Raísa is the perfect candidate for this role as she already has experience with the “Bring It On” franchise. The “Grown-ish” star played a cheerleader in “Bring It On: All Or Nothing.”

7. Auli’i Cravalho as Whitney

Universal Pictures / Brian Bowen Smith

Dedicated cheerleader perfectionist Whitney is Courtney’s partner in crime. Just like Courtney, Whitney is very committed to the legacy of the Toros. Unfortunately, this dedication pushes the team into some questionable decisions. Originally played by Nicole Bilderback, Puerto Rican-Hawaiian actress Auli’i Cravalho would bring a fresh dynamic to this role.

8. Diego Boneta as Aaron

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is PSX_20190311_160117.jpg
Universal Pictures / eonline.com

In the original “Bring It On,” Richard Hillman plays Torrence’s boyfriend and former Torro, Aaron. At first, he seems like a handsome and wholesome all-American guy but, in actuality, he’s a no-good cheater. Actor Diego Boneta has all of Aaron’s charm and is handsome enough to play this role in the Latinx reboot. He also has the acting talent to portray the POV of a dirty cheater.

9. Kehlani as Jenelope

Universal Pictures / Galore Magazine

A member of the Clovers, Jenelope is a girl who is not here for anyone else’s attitude. Originally played by R&B artist Natina Reed, this role definitely needs another boss artist for the Latinx reboot. Afro-Latina and American singer/songwriter Kehlani can bring the pose and the moves to this Clover.

10. Herizen Gaurdiola as Lava

Universal Pictures / Jemal Countess

Isis’ other Clover comadre, Lava is just as heated about the Toros stealing their moves as her name suggests. Shamari Fears originally played Lava but, for the reboot, we need an awesome Afro-Latina actress. Herizen Guardiola of Netflix’s “The Get Down” is just who we need to bring fresh flavor to this supporting role.

11. John Leguizamo as Sparky Polastri

Universal Pictures / Miko Lim

Eccentric, mean and intimidating, Sparky Polastri is a so-called professional dance coach. The Toros call him in when things start looking desperate but his methods are totally bizarre. To make matters worse, the routine he sells them has also been sold to rival cheer teams. The wacky performance was originally done by Ian Roberts but we can totally see John Leguizamo in this memorable role.
