This Timeline Will Prove Once And For All Whether Or Not Cardi B And Nicki Minaj Are In A Feud
Ever since Cardi B’s music started competing with Nicki Minaj’s in the charts, the internet has been talking about the two rappers’ feud. Here’s the thing: it’s not like there was one big fight between the two, but a bunch of little things that have stacked up.
Here’s the timeline of what we know and what’s real and what’s fake news.
In March 2017, Nicki Minaj “liked” a comment that threw shade at Cardi’s freestyle bars.

Cardi B posted a minute long freestyle, and a fan who commented “dumb *ss bars” immediately screen grabbed her notification that Nicki Minaj liked the comment. This is why it would suck to be a celebrity.

One month later, fans saw her dancing to “Bodak Yellow.”

Well, more like she was nodding her head in a h/t to Cardi’s single hit in a Miami nightclub.

Cardi B’s ex-fiancé, Offset, was featured in a Minaj song that disses a female rapper.

The internet thinks ‘No Flag’ was about Cardi, but, mitú is calling 🙅♀️ fake news 🙅♀️ on that.
Minaj tweeted to clear up the accusation.

Honestly, if you’re an internet person, we’re here for the drama and forget that they’re real people who might not want to start drama.
Minaj has since deleted this tweet, but we don’t know why. 🤔
Up until August 2017, Cardi had no comment on the feud.

And neither did Offset. I mean, they’re kind of just living their best life, and have since had a baby girl together.
But then, in a performance in August, she called out some female.

“You know this b***h she never f**king liked me, and all of a sudden she wants to be friends with me — no, b**ch. I still don’t like you b***h.”
Who is she talking about? The internet thought it was Minaj but Cardi B has said before that she’s still talking about her pre-fame ‘friends.’

Just weeks later at the 2017 MTV VMAs, Cardi B told Billboard: “I don’t have time to look at other women and what they’re doing. I don’t have to do that whole industry beef, you know? I get it poppin’ with these hands.”
We believe you, Bardi.
But then, on G Eazy’s track ‘No Limit’ Cardi B dissed someone again.

At the time, the internet was all a flutter, thinking this confirmed the beef once again and then another shady Instagram comment went viral.

OK, I’m screaming a little, because I can hear Cardi B actually saying that, but I haven’t seen it with my own two eyes, and that image is photoshopped. Our hand is forced.

A few weeks after the viral post, Cardi B spoke up again, denying any beef with Minaj.

Just like we suspected, Cardi B confessed that, “This is the thing—you know, people don’t understand, though, that I got like beef with 10 b*****s still in the hood, and I still be in the hood.”
Taylor Swift and Minaj fans teamed together to keep Cardi B off the top charts.

Swift fans began rallying each other on Twitter to stream ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ to keep Cardi B’s track at bay. Meanwhile, Minaj’s fans double-downed on their loyalty to the singer after the media started talking about Cardi B as “the next Nicki Minaj.”
Which, y’know, she isn’t. She’s the Cardi B. This actually happened.
But you can’t keep a tsunami at bay. “Bodak Yellow” eventually hit No. 1 on the charts.

And Minaj immediately congratulated the Dominican rapper from the Bronx. We think the “fellow” is the key word here. Son compadres.
Cardi B wasted no time responding and it seemed like she was gushing.

Cardi B is a tough mami, but she showed some deference to Minaj, saying that it “means so much coming from you.” We can only assume that means respect and refuse to read any more into it.
Hours before the full “Invasion of Privacy” album dropped, Cardi B cleared rumors again.

When asked who Cardi B is talking about when she talks about sneak-dissin in her lyrics, and if it’s directed at Nicki Minaj, the rapper just said, “I just feel like it’s really internet made-up.”
“I spoke to her before, in person. So I always say I don’t want anybody sneak-dissing me. If its something that we can talk it out, then we can talk it out, because it’s not always rah rah this or rah rah that.”
In October 2017, the two were on the same track, but didn’t film the video together.

Both Minaj and Cardi B spit lines on Migos’ song “Motorsport,” but rumors were that they refused to be in the same room since they filmed on different days.
The truth is, according to Cardi B, that she just heard Minaj couldn’t do that day but wasn’t reading into it.
Everyone thought the two were taking shots at each other in the song.

I mean, especially given Minaj’s lines: “Rap’s Jackie Chan, we ain’t pullin’ them fake stunts. My crown won’t fit on your bum-ass lace fronts.”
But, of course, Cardi B is always the one to clear up the rumors.

Cardi B told Capital XTRA that she heard a different verse than the one Minaj eventually ended up rapping in the final cut. Bottom line, when Quavo asked her to join the collab, she knew it would be a hard yes no matter what.
Although we wonder why Minaj hasn’t cleared up any of the rumors herself.

The tension was at a peak when they were competing for Top Female Artist at the Billboard 2018 awards in May.

They both ended up losing to Swift. It felt like some unresolved business and when the Met Gala went down, the internet started to pick up the rumors again.

The feud reached a fever pitch during a Harper’s Bazaar party.

Allegedly, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj got into a fight at the Harper’s Bazaar party and involved Cardi B throwing a shoe at the fellow rapper. That is when we got the now infamous photo fo Cardi B leaving the party with a welt on her forehead from a hit.
