This Conservative Black Reporter Tells Amara La Negra She’d Be Doing Way Better If She Didn’t Claim Her Afro Roots

Recently, Amara La Negra was forced to try to convince Black conservative and “The Fallen State” host Jesse Lee Peterson that Black people exist.

Those of you who aware Jesse Lee Peterson’s existence will know that he has long been problematic and extremely self-hating. The Black conservative is known for his membership of  Choose Black America, an organization of African Americans against undocumented immigration to the United States, and has long accused Black people of being “mentally retarded.” He has also thanked God for creating slavery.

Whether or not rapper Amara La Negra knew this before going onto his show has yet to be established, but we do know that she got an up and close experience on his buffoonery recently.

Amara recently sat down with Peterson, for god knows what reason, to talk about Afro-Latinidad.

(Spoiler alert: he learned nothing.)

Speaking with Amara the host questioned her about her identity and the meaning of the term Afro-Latino.”

“Now that I see you in person you don’t look like a Black person? You look like a dark-skinned Latina or something like that, right?” he asked before quickly following up with “Why would you want to call yourself Afro-Latina?

Um what???

Amara was visibly caught off guard by his words and replied “You’re terrible,” as she laughed.

Peterson, who clearly felt as if he had not said enough, continued.

“Black people are so negative. There’s nothing really good about being an Afro,” He said. “And they pretend to be Afro-Americans when really they are Americans. They wouldn’t even recognize Africa if it drove down the road past them. It’s such a negative thing why would you want to present yourself– because you’re 100% Latina- why would you want to present yourself with the AFro thing. What’s the purpose?”

When Peterson asked Amara what an Afro-Latina looked like she proudly pointed to herself as an example.

Despite Peterson attempting to dissuade Amara from using herself as an example of what a Black person looks like she refused. “I am very Dominican, I am very Latina. I am very Black as well,” she insisted.

“What does an African-American woman look like?” She asked him. “Like me.”

Still, Peterson quickly interrupted Amara saying, “There’s no such thing as an Afro-American woman, they made that up. They are Americans they were born here but they are dumb and so they are calling themselves African Americans because they don’t think for themselves. Jesse Jackson told them to think for themselves. So why would a woman like you so talented, you dont even look like them, why would you want to attach them to your name? You would do much better and sooner if you didn’t have the AFro Latina.”

Amara was quick to cut Peterson off saying that she loved her melanin.

“No, no, no no, I will always be an Afro-Latina. And that is why I am an activist, I love my background I love my melanin I love my race and I feel that is even more of a reason why my name is Amara La Negra.

It’s been more than two months since the tragic death of George Floyd. Since his death, the country has been struggling on how to cope with yet another senseless loss of a Black man at the hands of police officers. Massive protests have taken place in nearly every corner of the country – or globe for that matter.

Yet, two months after his death we continue to learn new heartbreaking details about the circumstances of his last moments. Newly released body-cam footage, obtained by the Daily Mail show in greater detail the moments leading up to the now infamous video of Officer Chauvin’s knee pressed into George Floyd’s neck. In the leaked footage, we see officers approach a man who was no threat with their guns drawn. We see a panicked Floyd beg officers not to shoot him.

New body-cam footage offers amother perspective into Floyd’s arrest and death.

Newly released, partial footage obtained by the Daily Mail from the body cameras worn by two of the now-former Minneapolis police officers involved in the arrest and death of George Floyd, show a panicked man begging for mercy. The footage reveals in greater detail the events surrounding the horrific arrest that led to Floyd’s death.

The eight-minute video starts with the officers approaching Floyd as he sat in his car, and ordering him to put up his hands. Floyd appears nervous and is immediately apologetic, but doesn’t initially follow their instructions to show his hands. In response, Lane pulls out his handgun and aims it at Floyd. Floyd complies, putting his hands on the wheel and tells the officer he’s sorry and asks what he’s done wrong.

Later in the video, following a struggle in the back of a police car, Officer Thomas Lane can be heard asking Officer Derek Chauvin whether Floyd should be rolled on his side. Floyd died May 25 while in custody, and the incident — which was also recorded on cell phone video — set off protests that soon went worldwide. The demonstrations over his killing and the deaths of other African Americans at the hands of police prompted intense discussions on racism in America.

In the video, footage shows police first approach Floyd’s car and asks him to put his hands on the steering wheel. Floyd doesn’t comply with the officer’s demands until Officer Lane draws his gun.

Floyd begs the officer not to shoot, “Please don’t shoot me Mr. Officer,” Floyd says. Lane then gets Floyd to come out of the car and puts him in handcuffs. Officer Kueng can be heard telling Floyd “stop resisting.”

Lane then begins interviewing a man and woman who were with Floyd in the car. “Why is he getting all squirrely and not showing us his hands?” Lane asks the two. “Because he’s been shot before,” a woman, who identifies herself as Floyd’s ex, tells the officer.

“He’s a good guy,” the male passenger adds.

The video then cuts to the two officers leading Floyd to their SUV. As they try to get him to sit in the back of the car, Floyd appears to grow desperate.

Floyd’s family has issued a statement about the newly released footage.

Ben Crump, an attorney for the Floyd family, issued a statement to CNN in response to the video’s release:

“The police officers approached him with guns drawn, simply because he was a Black man. As this video shows, he never posed any threat. The officers’ contradictions continue to build. If not for the videos, the world might never have known about the wrongs committed against George Floyd.”

All four officers involved in Floyd’s arrest were fired from the department the following day, and have all been charged in connection to his death.

Chauvin faces charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter, while the three other officers were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

An unidentified 59-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman’s choice to wear masks emblazoned with swastikas has caused them to be smacked with a one year ban by Walmart. The ban comes at the hands of the couple’s decision to go shopping in a Minnesota Walmart over the weekend while donning the masks which support white supremacy, nazism, and anti-semitism.

The couple wearing swastika masks have been banned from the retail store for at least a year after their behavior was caught on video.

Edit, since this is going much further than I thought it would (and the trolls and haters are starting to roll in): I…

Posted by Raphaela Mueller on Saturday, July 25, 2020

The unidentified couple were captured going through a checkout lane by Raphaela Mueller, a woman who filmed her encounter with them and then shared it on Facebook.

In the video, the woman wearing the mask can be seen holding up both of her middle fingers and saying “If you vote for [Joe] Biden, you’re going to be in Nazi Germany. That’s what it’s going to be like.”

She does this as another shopper tells her “You cannot be American and wear that mask.” In response, the woman rejected being labeled a Nazi. After patrons asked her to remove the mask she marched away and yelled, “F*** you.”

In her post about the incident, Mueller wrote “I was born and raised in Germany, and I grew up hearing about my great-grandmother who fought in the underground against the first wave of Nazis in the 1930s and 40s. Let me make this abundantly clear once and for all – THE SWASTIKA IS A HATE SYMBOL AND YOU DO NOT FLY THE FLAG, YOU DO NOT WEAR THE SYMBOL ANYWHERE ON YOUR BODY, YOU DO NOT USE OR DEFEND THIS SYMBOL, EVER. END OF STORY.”

Speaking to the Associated Press, Mueller went onto explain “I was speechless and shocked. I have heard of [things like this] happening in other places but I never thought I would see something like that.”

In response to the incident, police were called to the store and ultimately they served the couple with trespass notices on behalf of Walmart.

According to a Walmart spokesperson who talked to AP, the store offered the couple disposable face masks to change into but they both refused. Minnesota put into effect a mask mandate over the weekend that requires all customers at stores to wear masks.

“The incident is unacceptable, and the two customers involved were trespassed,” Walmart (who made masks mandatory for customers on July 20) said in a statement addressing the incident. “We will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment inside our stores.”

Soon after their interaction with the police, the man and woman were warned that they could be arrested if they decided to return to the store.
