Disney’s New Elote Dog Gets Mixed Reviews But What Exactly Is It

Disney Land is no stranger when it comes to offering Latino-inspired foods. From actual elote to tres leches, paletas with chamoy, flan, and margaritas – Disney has definitely been after the Latino market.

Sometimes their creations hit the mark and sometimes they’re total duds but this ‘elote dog’ looks to have a lot of potential.

Disney fans are all about the food when visiting the park, and this new addition is sure to be another crowd pleaser. I mean, look at this thing!

Pretty much every buzzy food item that I’ve come across at Disney Land I’ve become obsessed with. From the Cheshire Cat Tails and Dole Whip Floats to Birthday Cake Milkshakes and Cinderella Castle Cupcakes, nothing has ever disappointed.

And if you’re like me, you probably have several Disney snacks archived in your Instagram folder at all times. So when I discovered the existence of this massive elote dog, I had to look into it.

I mean there’s esquites (ufff!) slathered on a hot dog. What’s not to love?!

But I haven’t tried it yet so we have to go with what the gente are saying. And reviews have ranged from omg que rico…

One user on Instagram said: “We’ve read several less than thrilling reviews about this specialty item, but we actually enjoyed it! ???? Everyone has different tastes, so don’t be discouraged if this looks good to you. Just make sure you have a fork and knife on hand and LOTS of napkins!”

To a not so flattering…meh.

Another not so positive review said: “Well, we’re sad to say…it was bad ???? It was so salty we couldn’t even finish it. We‘re super bummed about it and we’re hoping maybe we just got a bad one??? We got it right before the park closed so maybe it was just off it’s game.”

Even though there are mix reviews, I am definitely going to give this thing a try.

I mean the giant elote dog is covered in esquites, mayo, cotija, chili, and limon.

Judging by the looks of it, this thing requires lots of preparation (i.e., plenty of napkins and utensils) and potentially another human to help you finish it.

Though I have to admit, I’m surprised it took Disneyland this long to add something like this to their menu.

I mean it’s pretty obvious that many park residents have long been a fan of elote. It was only a matter of time until they took to esquites on a hot dog.

This isn’t the first Latino inspired things that Disney Land has offered.

Just a few months ago the park was selling Micky Mouse conchas. Not everyone was happy about it, including many of the parks Latino vendors.

After the release of “Coco,” the park started selling the most adorable tres leches parfait!

If this parfait is as good as the movie was, I better be in actual tears.

The park even sells fresa-flavored churros!

Churros are already legit amazing and a theme park stape but Disney Land takes it to the next level with this strawberry flavored churro. Yas!

So what do you think, will you be giving this new ‘elote dog’ a try?

Demi Lovato Laughing At Herself While Rewatching ‘Camp Rock’: how awkward am I?

Quite a lot has changed in the years that have passed since Disney Channel made the 2008 hit Camp Rock. For one, the star of the film (Demi Lovato) is much more than a former Micky-head and is now a household name amongst way more than the fanbase she held at the time. And according to recently dropped tracks and music videos, Lovato no longer hangs tight with her former co-stars the Jonas Brothers.

Still, all of these years later, and some years of growing up, Lovato seems to be able to look back at her big starring role and laugh.

Lovato took a stroll down memory lane this past weekend to watch the 2008 Disney Channel movie and share her reactions on Instagram Story.

The 27-year-old singer her reaction the Disney hit in series of Instagram Stories wherein she gives some pretty hilarious commentary about her “awkward” character. At the time, Lovato depicted Mitchie Torres, an aspiring singer who attends a summer music camp called “Camp Rock”

In one scene that features Lovato alongside her Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner, Lovato writes “The amount of awkward f—ing things I did in this movie… I can’t.” In another scene shared with her and Joe Jonas, Lovato wrote “I told yall – how awkward am I?!!!”

Lovato finished off her Camp Rock rewatch party with a post sharing a scene of herself performing the song “Our Time Is Here.”

“This s–t still slaps not gonna lie…,” the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer wrote of the clip.

The original Camp Rock which also starred Nick and Kevin Jonas was given the sequel treatment back in 2020 and was released as Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

But it might not be its last? Recently, Lovato expressed her desire to take part in a third installment, this time with content that’s a little racier.

“We want to come out with an R-Rated Camp Rock 3,” the singer told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. “I mean, all of our fans have now grown up and so anybody that watched Camp Rock is now older and can appreciate it.”

Update July 7, 2020, 4:00 p.m. PST: People are going after “Hamilton” because of its depiction of Alexander Hamilton, who was a slave owner. In a time when Confederate monuments are falling, some people want to cancel the show because it does elevate the people of the time. Lin-Manuel Miranda does not disagree with them

Lin-Manuel Miranda validated the criticism lodged against “Hamilton.”

There was a lot of criticism recently lodged at the musical. The renewed attention is partly because Disney+is streaming the very successful play during the 4th of July weekend. While Miranda has said the criticisms are valid, he did express the difficulty of creating a play and capturing every moment of the Founding Fathers in one play. There is no arguing that the Founding Fathers were not indeed problematic and owned slaves.

During this time, it is important to have tough conversations about the legacy of this country and what we can do to acknowledge and rectify the issues.

“Hamilton” is an exquisite work of art. The casting sets it apart from other plays that do not try to be as inclusive. Yet, it is very important to remember our history. Some of the people we are taught to celebrate and hold in high esteem are not worthy of that praise. Some are responsible for killing off large amount of native people. Others were involved with the brutal slave trade that created one of the largest diasporas in human history. You can honor the work of a Latino creator and acknowledge the flaws even he admits to.

Original: Families across the nation celebrated their 4th of July weekend watching “Hamilton.” The musical is one of the most celebrated musicals in recent history. Yet, some people have a problem with the musical and its debut on Disney+ has angered some Twitter users.

“Hamilton” is currently streaming on Disney+ and fans are so excited.

The very popular musical is a Broadway sensation. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s play is one of the most celebrated shows in recent history with sold-out shows across the country. The play tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

The play has been celebrated because the actors cast in the production are all actors of color. It took a white story and was filled with people of color showing a side of Hamilton people don’t often address. Miranda admitted that he didn’t know much about Hamilton until reading a biography about the man while on vacation. He felt the story of Hamilton is inherently an immigrant story and deserved to be told with a twist.

#CancelHamilton started trending over the weekend and a quick search shows that most of the tweets are from conservatives.

There is a movement happening right now in the U.S. with people tearing down statues honoring Confederate soldiers and leaders. The Confederacy is the side of the Civil War fighting to preserve slavery and lost the war. The hashtag is filled with people complaining that other Confederate monuments are being torn down, so why not cancel “Hamilton.”

One argument being made against canceling “Hamilton” is that it is fiction. Those for the cancellation of “Hamilton” claim that is should be torn down like Confederate statues. Yet, those against the cancellation claim that the show is a fictitious account and not the same as monuments and statues built to celebrate a legacy steeped in slave ownership.

Some of the people defending the show are pointing to the cast of filled with people of color.

The show made history with its diverse cast offering a glimpse into history through the voices of people of color. This kind of representation gave young people of color a chance to see themselves represented in history. It might only be a play but it is a play that has captivated an audience of Black and brown people who can see people who look like them representing U.S. history.

It has reignited the debate about cancel culture being weaponized and weakened by bad actors.

The cancel culture has come after several celebrities and businesses calling out bad practices. It seems though that every week there is a new attempt to cancel someone or something. Cancel culture has come under fire for cutting people before giving them a chance to learn from their mistakes.

Some people want to cancel cancel culture instead of “Hamilton” and that thought is spreading.

Cancel culture has claimed a lot of people. It started to grow in prominence as social media became more and more popular and far-reaching. What do you think about Cancel Culture?
