If You Grew Up With A Twin, This Post Will Have You Laughing And Crying At The Same Time

Having a sibling alone can be super annoying but having a twin takes that annoyance to a whole other level. As much as my twin brother and I argued at home, in the classroom, and with our friends, having a twin is also the best thing to ever happen to me.

This is my story as told to Jessica Garcia…

Having a twin can be described as a mix between having a permanent BFF and permanently having someone you want to punch in the face 24/7.

There’s no in-between. When you’re growing up with someone who looks like you, acts like you and lives with you, you’re in a constant battle trying to outshine the other person. It feels as if your mission in life is to become the favorite twin.

But because you two fought so often, you get so good at it that it becomes somewhat of a hobby.

No matter how silly and unnecessary the argument was, you just couldn’t let your twin have the last word.

Whether it was winning an argument or getting the best grades at the end of a semester, life has always been a competition.

This doesn’t mean you’re against each other; you both want each other to win and succeed, but it was still a race to see who could get there first.

And the most annoying part about having this person attached to your hip since birth is sharing everyyyythinnnng with them.

But sharing the bathroom is the absolute worst. ?

However, there is one thing you don’t mind sharing with them: your birthday.

Thanks to your twin, there’s never such a thing as a dull birthday. Every year it’s a new celebration and new adventure.

And of course you don’t mind sharing each other’s Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix accounts. ?

When it comes to parties and events, you two are considered as a single invite, which means you only have to buy one gift. #(T)WINNING

Plus, you always have a date.

So after doing everything together, from kindergarten all the way through high school, the hardest part about having a twin is being separated.

So much worse than a breakup with a boyfriend or girlfriend because you grew up with this person. Your twin is your partner in crime, best friend, biggest headache, and closest family member. So when you two are not together, a piece of you is missing. But once you two reunite, it’s like you never separated in the first place.

As cliché as it sounds, you two are literally each other’s better halves, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

You never have to explain what you’re thinking because they already know what you’re about to say.

The maternity photoshoot featured Abby De La Rosa and Nick Cannon in a sunlit forest. Abby De La Rosa was wearing a shirt made of pearls while Nick Cannon stood next to her. Abby also posted other photos of herself in the dessert, clothed in flowing robes.

Ever the excited mother, Abby De La Rosa also included a heartfelt caption to the beautiful photos.

“Our dearest sons – my miracle babies, thank you for choosing me to be your Mommy. I know the Lord has destined me and prepared me for the gift of not one but two little angels. I pray that God give you both the strength to walk brave and boldly in your individual truth just like your Daddy.”

“That God bless you and your brother and guide you into living out your full purpose. Your Dad & I will always be here for you both; in complete unison and support. No matter what this world may throw your way, know that forgiveness is key and what is for you – is for YOU! You both are already so loved and we can’t wait to meet you both.”

This will be Abby De La Rosa’s first-born children and Nick Cannon’s fifth and sixth. In December, Cannon welcomed a daughter named Powerful Queen with ex, Brittany Bell.

Although Abby De La Rosa has been very public and very excited about her twin babies for a while (just check out her Twitter feed), she had yet to reveal who the father was. Sunday marked the first time that Abby officially acknowledged that Nick Cannon was the father of her children (although she had been hinting at it for months).

Abby De La Rosa first began posting about her pregnancy in December as well, leading many snoopy fans to speculate about the timeline of Nick Cannon’s relationships.

For those who don’t know Abby De La Rosa, she is a successful Latina DJ and radio personality.

According to Real 92.3’s website, Abby De La Rosa began her radio DJ career at a Latin radio station in Los Angeles. She soon transitioned to working at Urban stations. Of Mexican descent, she often takes to social media to proudly proclaim her roots and celebrate her heritage.

“The most consistent craving I have is a warm bowl of sopa de Fideo with lemon & some Cheyenne pepper for that kick,” she wrote in December. “My babies are half Mexican & already loving the food lol.”

Congratulations to both Nick Cannon and Abby De La Rosa! We hope Mariah Carey’s children will be happy to have two new siblings!

Woman Who Watched Her Mother Die Before Her Eyes While At Sea As A 9-Year-Old Reunited With Her Rescuers

May 20, 1986, started out for Desireé Rodriguez and her family as an idyllic morning.

At the time, Desireé’s father (a 30-year-old construction worker by the name of Thomas Rodriguez) had taken her, her mother, and sister as well an aunt and uncle out to Catalina Island for a day of sailing. The plan was to go out, fish, and bask in the summer sun before heading back home. In the evening, just as they were headed home the family was impacted by a dense fog. Desireé and her 5-year-old sister Trisha awoke from a nap on the boat to calls from her father to abandon ship and within minutes the entire family was lost at sea. Out in the water and away from their boat that had capsized.

The family of six was stranded in the chilly Pacific water for hours and Desireé watched as her father first went to swim for rescue and never returned. In the hours that slowly stretched by Desireé witnessed the death of her sister, her mother, her uncle and then her aunt.

Decades have passed since her family’s accident but Desireé has lived to tell of the story thanks to the two men who rescued her.

In a recent piece by The New York times, Desireé was reunited with the two men who were remarkably able to save her after she spent a nightmarish 20 hours in the ocean.

Only 9-years-old at the time of the tragic events, Desireé recalls believing that her father would return with help when he first swam away from the boat. “My dad was like the superhero to me. I actually thought he would get help,” Desireé explained before calling the desperate hours that followed. After watching her family members die, she found herself all alone.

“At that point, I just kind of made the decision, I need to get away from this boat,” Desireé recalled to the New York Times. “I need to swim away, somewhere else. … Where? I don’t know.”

Just when Desireé decided to give up hope, the skipper of a commercial sportfishing boat spotted her orange life jacket in the water.

The boat’s first officer leapt into the water and fished Desireé out of the water. Desireé was ultimately transported back to San Pedro and never saw her rescuers again.

“I don’t think I would have lived, I’ll be honest with you. I think at that point, I was just kind of done,” Desireé explained in a recent interview about the incident. According to an article at the time that described the incident, Desireé had suffered no major physical injuries and was “in good spirits.” She left the hospital in San Pedro the next time.

“I had even hoped that my dad did make it somewhere,” Desireé explained of her thinking of the time. “Maybe he is living on an island and just got amnesia and didn’t know that he has a family. You know, you always have hope. But you get older, and reality sets in, and you’re like, OK. He didn’t make it.”

Paul Strasser and Mark Pisano, the two men who rescued her, ultimately earned commemorative plaques for their bravery from Mayor Tom Bradley. Desireé Rodriguez, now Desireé Campuzano, was adopted by another aunt and uncle who raised her. She went onto attend junior college in Fullerton, built herself a career in criminal justice, married and had a son. Still, she always wondered what had happened to the men who saved her.

It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that Strasser and Pisano came into contact with Philip Friedman who launched a podcast about his hobby as a fisherman.

“Friedman Adventures” which launched this past December, shares incredible stories from fishermen. Ine one episode Pisano spoke about the 1986 rescue.

“It’s kind of a weird story, kind of like there are some supernatural qualities,” Pisano explained of the experience on the podcast.

Friedman felt motivated to unite the two rescuers and Desireé. Ultimately a friend of Desireé’s heard the episode when it aired and made the connection. He reached out to Desireé and then Friedman and ultimately she and her rescuers were reunited.

“I was nervous at first,” Desireé said of meeting Strasser and Pisano “just seeing [the] guys and putting kind of finalization to the ‘what happened.’” The three were finally reunited during another episode of the podcast.

“I feel like she’s sort of our daughter, in a way, because we brought her back to life,” Strasser said during their reunion. “Even though we never knew each other.”
