If You Grew Up With A Twin, This Post Will Have You Laughing And Crying At The Same Time
Having a sibling alone can be super annoying but having a twin takes that annoyance to a whole other level. As much as my twin brother and I argued at home, in the classroom, and with our friends, having a twin is also the best thing to ever happen to me.
This is my story as told to Jessica Garcia…
Having a twin can be described as a mix between having a permanent BFF and permanently having someone you want to punch in the face 24/7.
There’s no in-between. When you’re growing up with someone who looks like you, acts like you and lives with you, you’re in a constant battle trying to outshine the other person. It feels as if your mission in life is to become the favorite twin.
But because you two fought so often, you get so good at it that it becomes somewhat of a hobby.
No matter how silly and unnecessary the argument was, you just couldn’t let your twin have the last word.
Whether it was winning an argument or getting the best grades at the end of a semester, life has always been a competition.
This doesn’t mean you’re against each other; you both want each other to win and succeed, but it was still a race to see who could get there first.
And the most annoying part about having this person attached to your hip since birth is sharing everyyyythinnnng with them.
But sharing the bathroom is the absolute worst. ?
However, there is one thing you don’t mind sharing with them: your birthday.
Thanks to your twin, there’s never such a thing as a dull birthday. Every year it’s a new celebration and new adventure.
And of course you don’t mind sharing each other’s Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix accounts. ?
When it comes to parties and events, you two are considered as a single invite, which means you only have to buy one gift. #(T)WINNING
Plus, you always have a date.
So after doing everything together, from kindergarten all the way through high school, the hardest part about having a twin is being separated.
So much worse than a breakup with a boyfriend or girlfriend because you grew up with this person. Your twin is your partner in crime, best friend, biggest headache, and closest family member. So when you two are not together, a piece of you is missing. But once you two reunite, it’s like you never separated in the first place.
As cliché as it sounds, you two are literally each other’s better halves, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
You never have to explain what you’re thinking because they already know what you’re about to say.
