How To Treat Yourself To A DIY Spa Day Before Your Quince
Your Quince is just around the corner, and the stress of having the perfect fiesta is starting to get the best of you. Well fear not, because we are here to help you get your zen on! Having a spa day should not require you to break the bank. Whether you find supplies in your home or the nearest convenience store, all of your spa day sueños can come true!
Just follow these easy steps:
Step 1- Run A Bath
First things first, get the materials for your bath.
This includes rose petals (which you can probably get from your abuelita’s garden), some good tunes, and your favorite scented candles – you can find those at your local dollar store!
Pro Tip: Set up a playlist for your spa day with music you love.
Once you have all of your materials, fill the tub with warm water and throw the rose petals in there. Light up your velitas and queue your spa playlist. During the bath, clear your mind as much as possible. Positive thoughts will help you truly enjoy your self-care day.
Step 2- Deep Cleanse
After the steam from your bath has opened your pores, it is time for a deep facial cleanse. Grab your Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub with Grapefruit Extract + Vitamin C – it clears breakouts, and even the marks they leave behind. Apply product into your hand, add water and work into a lather. As you wash, notice how the fresh citrus scent will re-energize your senses, and have faith that the salicylic acid will be working its magic for you.
Remember to use the scrub all week before your big day to help keep blemishes in check. Right after you rinse, be sure to add a moisturizer to your skin! Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapefruit is non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores.
Step 3- Hair Mask
An affordable hair mask is vital for a good spa day. One of my favorites is called the LOC method mask which helps keep the moisture in your hair. Skip the masks sitting in the checkout aisle and grab your favorite leave-in conditioner, an avocado and coconut oil. Begin with the L (leave-in conditioner) and apply a good amount to your hair. If your hair is naturally straight, skip the L and head straight for the O (oil). Comb a dime-sized amount of oil evenly throughout your hair. Finally, add the C (cream) – in this case, the avocado paste. After letting the mask soak into your hair for 15 minutes, wash it out, and bask in how shiny and soft your hair is!
Step 4- Lip Scrub
A lip scrub is essential for a spa day. Scrubs push dead skin away so that softer skin can thrive. Olive oil, honey and sugar work well on the skin, and dissolves after just a few rubs. Use an even amount of all products to make a great inexpensive lip scrub. Rub the mix on to your lips for 15 seconds and rinse thoroughly. Make sure to apply lip balm afterwards!
Step 5- Nails
Visiting a nail salon can be pricey. Not only do you have to travel, you’ll have to pay at least $20 for a manicure. Instead of spending your allowance, grab your favorite nail color from the local dollar store. Depending on your style, you can grab glitter polish or a standard solid color. Either way, you won’t be breaking the bank. If you want something a little different (or hate polishing your nails), try nail decals or press-ons!
Pro Tip: As you wait for your hair mask to set in, paint your nails and then your toes. By the time you are ready to wash the mask out, your nails should be dry.
Now that you have curated your own spa day, remember to take time out for self care at least once a month.
Doing so will help you glow for your big day!
