These Employees Had An Avocado Side-Hustle That Cost Their Employer A Small Fortune

We all love a good side hustle, but three California men took it to the next level.

Over the last several months, Joseph Valenzuela, 38, Carlos Chavez, 28 and Rahim Leblanc, 30, made bank by selling avocados they stole from their employer, Mission Produce. The company says that in total, the three men cost Mission Produce around $300,000. Yeah, $300,000 dollars. That’s enough to buy at least a few plates of avocado toast from a popular brunch spot.

Mission Produce recently began delivering avocados to its customers, FOX New reports, rather than having customers pick them up from their facility.

Some customers weren’t informed of this change, however, and so they continued showing up to the facility where they unknowingly purchased boxes of the stolen avocados. The men sold the boxes for $20 to $30 cheaper than normal price — a box typically sells for $50. The men would pocket the cash, shorting the company in the process.

Their employer became suspicious when bookkeepers began noticing discrepancies in their revenue.

By May, after customers started coming forward with concerns, Mission Produce alerted Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriffs were able to make their arrest thanks to surveillance footage that showed the avocado thieves at work. Sgt John Franchi told the Los Angeles Times, “We take these kinds of thefts seriously. It’s a big product here and in California.” Franchi added, “Everybody loves avocados.”

The three men are currently in jail on $250,000 bail.

Millennials Might Have A New Savior In The Form Of Spreadable Avocado In A Deodorant Container

We all love a good avocado. There is something so satisfying about opening up a perfectly ripe avocado, removing the pit, and shoveling out the green goodness that lies within. That’s what makes the latest project from Unnecessary Inventions so offensive to so many people. It’s called “Avocado on a Stick” and it will make you think twice about society.

The internet is torn over the latest unnecessary invention that is blowing up online.

That’s right. The man behind Unnecessary Inventions took the loveable and delicious snack and put it in a deodorant dispenser. Why? To make it easier to spread on toast and things, of course. You can even just roll the stuff out of the tube and eat it like a candy bar.

To be fair, Unnecessary Inventions is not a serious page and the inventions are not for real use.

Honestly, this looks like a mess waiting to happen. Why would someone try to make this a thing? It truly is a disaster waiting to happen and we all know one person who would deliver on that disaster.

However, they do make a good point about who would be flocking to this product.

Honestly, millennials are the most likely demographic for this kind of product. Who else would be willing to try something out this bizarre? It would save time and effort when making the delicious and super hip avocado toast.

Some people don’t understand that it is all a joke.

Could you imagine someone actually trying to make this a thing? Who would even buy something like this? Avocados have perfectly fine packaging that naturally exists.

There are a few souls out there that know how this avocado creation could go wrong fast.

Something tells us that the avocado would spoil so fast. There is a reason the skin of the avocado is so thick and durable. It is the perfect way to keep the fragile fruit from turning nasty fast.

Though a few people have some suggestions on how to make this product even more marketable.

Now, this is one surefire way to deliver the delicious and creamy avocado to your toast and other things in a pinch. Instead of awkwardly applying it like a deodorant you could just squeeze it out of a tube.

This is really important because some people just have horrible luck.

We all know that person who would make a mess out of this. Maybe it is you. Maybe it is your gordo. Either way, it is something that could turn on you so fast that it is probably best that it isn’t a real invention.

Do you remember when avocados were used just for tacos, guacamole and toast? Now we have avocado paletas, avocado cocktails, and people are even tattooing avocados on their body. Low key, some are hits and some are misses. Well, there’s a new avocado trend and people are torn on the new concoction: avocado toast.

There’s a chocolate shop in Los Angeles that has made avocado toast into a chocolate bar.

Compartés — an L.A. based chocolatier — makes all sorts of high-class chocolate bars, including Donuts and Coffee. However, this latest flavor is creating a lot of buzz.

They literally put pieces of avocado toast into the white chocolate mix and blend it all together.

What do you think about this chocolate bar?

People on social media are not holding back on their feelings about this chocolate.

Some people just don’t like change and it is a very interesting concoctions

Toast is one thing, but as dessert?

How did they even conceive of this? I wonder how many people eat their avocado toast with white chocolate.

People don’t like change and this is clearly a big change.

Only a taste test will truly prove if this is more than a novelty.

Some people think millennials are to blame for this new food invention.

It’s totally cool to be creative, but why mess with a good thing? Like, avocado ice cream makes sense but avocado chocolate seems like a stretch.

But, some people are very interested in trying this unexpected food item.

The more you think about it, the more it kind of gets to be normal, right?

So, who is going to give this chocolate bar a try?

If you do eat this bar, let us know what you think in the comments.
